    20th is about right after that performance. There's the traditionally strong teams + the one's who did well in this WC - and England are very much neither of these.

    The rankings actually look a lot less laughable now. The last time I checked the table we were rated above patently far better teams. At least it bears some semblance to reality now.

    At least we've got Rooney though. He's world class y'know! A MOTD pundit said so!

    Where were we ranked after our dreadful (better results but worse performances than this year IMO) South African campaign?

    Gen Q - I have a recollection it was stupidly high, but I can't remember exactly.

    But then: football is based on results. In SA we were last 16 and went out to a top six or so side so it's hardly a surprise the rankings reflected that
