Someone earlier said it's really middle class. I've noticed that stuff about expensive holidays is generally 'first person' ("Have you been trekking south america with the children in this year?") while stuff which might involve the lower orders is 3rd person ("Today we'll be talking about dole-scrounging single mothers").

"I" is first person singular.

"You" is second person.

"We" is first person plural.

Third person is "he" or "she" (singular) and "they" (plural).

Hmm, do you think that might have something to do with the journos and guests being (shhh!) middle class?
