You definitely wanted me to yesterday
It's OK, I wouldn't dream of coming. Had enough of those wallies to last me a lifetime.

) but some of those twats were whingeing tossers in the extreme last year.
Next year, we may work if this is possible, I have a feeling we may need to save ticket cash next year, given the frightening expenses of our extreme festivals season this year ...![]()

overdemanding/spoilt/fussy middle class parents and their obnoxious offspring.

Have a chat with Al Graves (aka Diggers) when you get there. He's working on Info & may be able to point you in the right direction if you fancy doing that again. 2 X 2.5 hour shifts each day apparently.

I'm told they're trying to ban drugs at Womad this year. Which is odd, 'cos I was under the impression that the government had already done this.

etc., etc.

"Source"??
'Ban' 'drugs' at a festival of 20,000 people or so?
I'd like to see 'them' try ...
'I'm told' my arse ..... anecdote, shmanecdote .. brand new second handetc., etc.

A number of artists booked for this year's WOMAD Charlton Park have sadly had to cancel due to various problems with obtaining visas.
We have just received sad news that Asif Ali Khan (Pakistan) will not be able to make it to the festival due to this very problem. Happily, Sufi Women of the Islands (Mayotte/France) are able to stand in at last minute for Asif's performance and workshop and have just been added to the bill.
Dhoad Gypsies of Rajasthan (India) were also affected by visa issues and have been replaced by Children of the Khmer (Cambodia).
Kasai Allstars (Congo) had to cancel their whole European tour as they couldn't get the visas they needed. Their performance slots are now filled by Nortec Collective (Mexico) and Wasis Diop (Senegal).

I went onto the womad site that you linked in the first post and it had a box saying 'help make womad a drug free festival' . . . I mentioned to jittug I wondered when they would get around to banning the bars.
eta: what it actually says is:
"We ask our audience to work with us in helping to make the festival drug free"
and I asked when they would be getting rid of alcohol
We're going to leave 6am on Fri so hopefully get in early to get a nice spot.
Campsites open 8am.err... you do realise most people will be pitching up tomorrow don't you?Campsites open 8am.
Haven't seen anyone since last year. I've had a bad festival season so far. It started with Sunrise being cancelled...

I did know that you could get a Thur ticket as well, but thought that most people would leave it to the fri. Cause of work, extra cost etc.

Work wasn't too arduous (spent the whole time in event control), NO RAIN!!! at all, we camped in the shade so got a bit of respite from the sun, saw some good music, saw lots of happy people, didnt see a single cross person or any tears, ate lots of good food and found reasonable cake.
