Womad 2007

Only Womad could print the two halves of the map at 90 deg to each other. Don't they know how uncomfortable it is, holding the monitor on its side and trying to read at the same time?

Folksongs from outer-inner (or innanna ;) ) Mongolia. In an obcure Yurt .... or I reckon so, from the above link ;)

Remind me, William - when we met at Glastonbury, and we talked a bit about what we did for paid work, I'm sure you said something about using the internet (and therefore, by implication, one of these new fangled computer thingies). :D I may be new to some of this message board interweb forum stuff (eg my ability to send PMs and lose them!), but I certainly know how to view a pdf file! :p

PDF files are shit ... on any possible level ...

I can view them (and I have done, now) on a 'work' PC that has has Adobe already there, in fact I've printed the map

But I couldn't be arsed last night when at home ;)

Looking at the map now, the main thing that striles me about it is how much like visiting an entirely new festival it will be, even for vets like me and innana. Everything's changed. New site, new vibe, looks as if it's all going to be altogether wonderful :)

Rocket, re the Art Bar, don't knock it til you've tried it man .... at least for a point of comparison with the other bars ... ;)

Just for Rocket No. 9 ;)

As a reminder .... :p

Bath Ales has a reputation for producing distinctive, high quality ales full of character
and flavour.

Careful selection of the finest floor malted barley and the best whole English hops,
together with our own cultured yeast, has enabled us to produce a range of beers we ourselves enjoy.

I do believe it is sold out now...I have been trying to convince a few more folk to come...then when they make up their mind that REALLY want to come they can't get tickets...:( I have now booked the Thursday off work so should be leaving the Midlands at 1pm ....I just have the hassle of 6 days of work to do now....

According to the WoMaD site there are still tickets available (a good thing - the fewer campers the better in my opinion after the tent-peg tango fuckries of 2005:mad: ) but they are having technical problems at their end.

Either way, more room for us.

We'll be pitching up on site from 1200 after wandering around Wilts for a few days prior.

...and William, are you sure Bath Ales have the contract again? If so, then that 'Art Bar' looks ideally situated for catching all the action in between stages. In fact, unless tere's an official meet-up, that's where you'll probably find me for most of the festival.:)

Can't get the link right now, but Bath Ales are definitely in, I've been reliably informed.

Bumped thread because we start on Thursday. Weather propects fairly dire, hopefully not quite as bad as the Glade though ...

Can't face giving links to a proper forecast atm :(

May do so in a coupla days if -- big if -- prospects improve a bit. Search for 'Malmesbury' on amy weather site that offers a five day forecast.

Yay...I finish work tomorrow . Weather is looking ok but I wish wish wish it was the sunny daze of last year. Beautiful music and cocktails coming up..

Looks pretty OK to me apart from Thursday

I'll recheck tomorrow's updates, but when I posted my post above, the Thursday forecast hadn't deteriorated and the Sat/Sun forecasts hadn't improved, both happened later on in the day today ...

All's a bit volatile, we might escape reasonably lightly. This week, particularly right now, is one of the very few (OK unique! ;) ) occasions I envy Wiltshire folk for their location over those dwelling in the lower river reaches of Oxfordshire ...

The WOMAD site is flood free, it's reasonably high ground. Probably not mud free though ...

We'll see.

My train arrives at 1:04, should be on site and set up by 2:30 or so!

On Thursday

Respect to the WOMAD organisers, they listened.

I emailed them about the fact that all direct trains to Kemble from Paddington on Thursday and Friday arrive four or five minutes past the hour, and within a day, they'd officially arranged with the bus shuttle company to shift the 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm times of the buses from station to site, to fifteen minutes later.

Cool and thing :)

Intelligently, I went to the pub (as I'm not back at 'work' til next Tuesday, I lingered longer :p ).

NO packing til tomorrow morning, now ... :o :D

At least I have my tent ... ;)

See yer there tomorrow. Bring boots, may post a FestoMeteorolographers's final update early tomorrow

Just posted by me elsewhere ...

Updated links reposted. The forecasts are all over the place at the moment.

Metcheck's rainfall totals for today have now reverted to 'horrendous' (25 mm is well over an inch) but might??? that be over-extreme?? Plus yesterday, they weren't showing 14 mm on Friday, now they are ... :(

Expert geeks over on the forums at http://www.netweather.tv are in near total disagreement for this w/e-- they, and non-expert I, concur that it will pretty certainly rain today, probably quite heavily, but thereafter, who knows. Might?? dry up by evening today, but not that early ... LOVELY, WELCOME TO WOMAD ...

For the weekend, too close to call. I believe we're on the cusp between an essentially dry Sat and Sun, and a still lingering risk (on some models) of some rain on Sun.. Pretty rare for the experts be expressing so much uncertainty/disagreement at this late stage ....

Bring yer boots. And fill em.

See you there WOMAD goers, I'll be off before too long.

ETA : Metcheck have in the last two hours reduced Thursday's rain slightly, and removed Friday's :)
Saturday and Sunday look actively nice ... FOR NOW!

Hi All.

Long time no see but can I get a day ticket for this, I'm a bit out of the loop as I live in Reading and havn't had this problem before.

Love all Marts

got a text from a mate last night - mud mud mud then:( hopefully it'll dry out over the next few days

just got an update

"weather is nice today so far but it's so muddy it's fucking horrible"

(((((campers at womad)))))))

my mate just rang, they are going to head home tomorrow, or tonight if they can manage it - said that hardly any bands can get there, the weather is ok, but the mud is horrendous
