A shock win for the Hamlet, to kickstart a glorious season maybe....

negotiating a pass for a junior rabble to accompany me. Looks like the trains to and from Woking are unaffected by strike action. Potentially yet another ground it's quicker to get to than "home" ...

But my heart's in the city, where it belongs"

Anyone who likes cemeteries: the stop before Woking is Brookwood (check, as not al ltrains stop there). The famous Brookwood Cemetery coincidentally have an Open Day tomorrow, starting at 11.00am.

    Woking isn't a city.

Or is that a reference to someone disowning Woking, and claiming to be from somewhere better? (I.e., fucking anywhere. Except Guildford. (Which isn't a city either.))

Paul Weller , Woking born and bred replying to the London press about his "big city" credentials , as a young boy he was a frequent visitor to London and was always drawn to it through his love of music, clothes and London culture .

    Drawn?

More like pushed towards it by a mainline with no stops between Surrah and Waterloo, and the arsehole of the Southern universe that is Woking.

btw, I totally glossed over the fact that I have no fucking idea who Paul Weller is apart from something musical there

Is he the one with big hair, who likes badgers? And is possibly a physicist?

Good luck! But cant see any rivals for the title. Billericay? Concord? Just no.

Hampton? Chelmsford? Torquay should improve with a decent manager. Woking look favourites after their strong start.

Concord are also-rans, I'll be disappointed if we finish below them come April. I reckon Billericay have already peaked, it's only a matter of time before the wheels fall off with that numpty running the show.

In case this isn’t a wind up, Paul Weller isn’t Brian May of Queen fame.

Jam, Style Council and a long solo career since then. Aka the ‘modfather’.

With my real ale drinking head on....

Spoons is a GBG regular. Ogilvy all but next door has its fans. Card carrying Camra members should try the Railway Man's Club. Regarded as the best place in Woking by most active Camra members. Note no genral admission as it is a private members club. Sovereigns has usually been a solid pub.

I live thirty seconds away from the Sovereigns pub and can recommend it.

What an awful ground. Segregation, scowling security guards everywhere, no bar and two bag searches. And £2 a bottle of soft drink.
