Clacton-On-Sea ...as it happens...and the dood sent it First Class...and at twice the price of the postage I paid...tops!!!1:D

now all I need to be able to do is find the pheasent-eye book.

Pity I lost my other good books to a twat last year when I was looking for somewhere to live..notably

Flora Photgraphica (from the Serpentine Exhibtion of the same name, from back in the 90s) and Obsession by Bob Carlos-Clarke(signed/first edition circa '81) :(

Where was the book from? an online store or something? I've only seen it on that 'abe books'

I like the sound of the Bob Carlos-Clarke one - have a bit of a thing for obsessions...;)

Has anyone read this book:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/American-Ph...id=1163797877/ref=sr_11_1/202-5385949-4463025

American Photography - Miles Orvell (2003).

I'm doing an American Studies course, and while they used to do one wee module on visual culture or some such thing alas they do not anymore. I'm interested in combining my academic stuff with my hobby, so learning more specifically about American photography is something that would interest me a lot. This book seems like it would be a good introduction, without being a typical run-down of the usual suspects and a few examples of their work.

@teeps..it's grey and flat n drizzly...already getting dark...but I'll do summit.:p

you had better because, well you know don't you... I shouldn't need to spell it out because you gave me exactly the same advice :p

I've always fancied getting 'a smile in the mind' but never got around to buying it, other things always come up, theres a book I'm waiting the release of which is 'Dutch Graphic Design - Kees Broos ; Paul Hefting' and I really should buy 'Dutch Graphic Design: A Century of Innovation - Cees W.De Jong ; Alston W. Purvis' because I need/want to see what me bredren have been up to

I've already got all the other books I've wanted, got a wicked one on colour theory a few months ago and 'maximalism'

I wanna get a good book on Art Nouveau too.

I picked this up for £22 today. Well chuffed, although it's way over the top macabre, even for me

Ah that book's ace, I liberated it for free from my old college library shortly after being kicked out for irreconcilable differences [they wanted me to make shit pictures and talk crap about them and I didn't want to]

You stole a library book and you're bragging about it?

:(

Stealing library books is low. :(

agreed 100%

especially when it's a astonishingly beautiful, challenging art book that could have inspired countless students, it's a really scummy thing to do

IMMIC (and I'm 99.9% sure it is) this is the same poster who bragged about their friend 'liberating' a crate of wine from the people at Fruitstock after they told them that they couldn't keep coming back for endless freebies

Maybe they should change their name to 'light fingered scum'

I'd like to see your link to that as I'm sure you're 100% incorrect. The book is ace and gladly in my possession in exchange for their keeping my tuition fees after not letting me finish the course I signed up for.

Stealing from a library is scummy behaviour. All your doing is robbing from other students. Shame on you.

Property is theft after all, I'm sure the library had plenty of money to replace it ey?

Nooo don't put the guilt on me! Ok I feel bad for them but I begrudged the college! I'm sure seen as no excuse but they could've given me my money back

Don't put it back on me. You stole from a library - that's out of order.

I don't think the way things are written sometimes conveys the way in which they're intended. It wasn't a putting anything back on you more a denial of wanting to feel any guilt for doing other folk out of a great book.

Depends on the bookshop. I'd have less of a problem with stealing from Waterstones for example, yes.

Why the odd questions? Surely you can see the difference between stealing from an educational institution and stealing from a shop?

Yeh of course I can see it's a bad thing to do, but we've all done it havent we?

I used to steal Art books form my old schools Art department and still have some of them, I dont really have a sense of guilt over it.

It wasn't like his uni couldnt afford it and they sound like they were quite shitty to him.

I love the way this thread goes off on tangents  :D

*Bad zenie* :(

Jus bad anybody.

I didn't mention it ...coz

but seeing as it's been brought up

ME ME ME ME!!! alert

fact is...

MY book...the one I've jus got...I was accused of stealing that from the Art College Library I found it in...and I HAD TO prove that a Lecturer had IN FACT stolen it to clear MY NAME...she cornered me in a darkroom and told me she had been waiting for it and I jus handed it over instead of returning it to the Library ...stupid cunt_bitch thought she had got away withit until I got a petition of other students to support my statement of the facts and occurrances... and stormed one of her lectures to publically ridicule her and make our Head of Departments consider what She and Others were doing with the funding of the Library and other stufff...

Nah stealing ANY books from ANY Libraries is comparable to kiddy fiddling in MY books(sic)...happens all the time and is totally antisocial and destructive to that society.

Go steal from a bookshop if you can't afford a book...better still stand outside a bookshop and beg for money to buy the book you want...those options are much better EVER than stealing ANYTHING from ANY Library.

imho
