Perhaps a question for another thread, but what could a bookie possibly gain from paying out before the bet has been settled?
Dunno, perhaps they assume that punters will spunk their winnings on other bets straight away.

does anyone actually watch pro tennis anymore? innit?

i would love to go back to days of Borg/McEnroe matches.

Come on Tim!!!

:p ;)

(I found it funny how people went from saying that with the usual resignation in their hearts to almost screaming it as a religious experience :))

see all this henman shite is exactly why i got out of watching tennis. He ain't great and doesn't feed off the corwd in the slightest as he is the most unpassionate person to ever walk the face of the earth.

He won't win anything he was never going to win anything and the pedistal that people put him on is ridiculous.

Murry will never win wimbeldon(althoguh should win at least a couple of majors) either so fuck off with murrys mound or whatever it was called last year

come on the brits:(

fancy that balatacha to surprise people, maybe make the 3rd or 4th round, possibly henman's last stand, federer to win natch, and henin, unless serena is bothered
Balatacha was impressive. Unlucky to lose.

so yeah who are top ladies at the minute???

henin, sharapova and who else is about, its my understanding that williams sisters have dropped off and i hope davreport has fucked off so who are the girls to look out for(in a totally non sexual way)

Mauresmo.

ah yes i remember her!

oh yeah were my eyes playing tricks on me or did i see borris beckers name in the singles draw????

dave

I fancy Mauresmo to win the ladies event and (of course) Federer to win the mens.

Same as last year then! Good to see Henman in the second round, he may make the quarters this year if he is lucky. Personally I thought Moya handed to game to Henman, he was so strong in all the other games then double faulted to lose.

Oh and that Serbian bloke who played on centre last night looked tasty, he could make the final......

He only bloody won! What a mission that was!! :D

Surely he must be one of the favourites to win the tournament now. Roddick in the quarters, Federer in the semis and Nadal in the Final. No problem. Come on Tim. :D

Listening to the radio, they were just talking about cooking.

Pat Cash says, "Only thing I've ever cooked was a hash cake"

Conversation then turned back to tomatoes.

:D

there was a becker in the draw, benjiman i think, no relation to boom boom

Pierce Brosnan Inspires Upset!

Just watched a great game where complete underdog Marion Bartoli beat Justine Henin to get to the final.

During the post-match interview, Bartoli said that after losing the first set 6-1 she spotted Pierce Brosnan, one of her favourite actors, in the crowd and she upped her game!

Must be one of the most unusual sporting explanations ever.

So does everyone else loose interest after the Brits get knocked out?

There's been some great matches.

But he's won 11 titles.

No, I'm still following it every day (but then I'm not British ;) ).

The game between Djokovic and Baghdatis yesterday was fantastic. In fact the last couple of days have had some crackers.

I managed to get some last-minute tickets for last Tuesday though it was one of the wettest days of the tournament. Still, it was nice to see it all in the flesh.

Look forward to both finals.

Federer v Nadal

its 1-1 in sets
4-3 in games
which way is this going to go?

I'll bet on Nadal (losing):D
Federer just great on the breaks. No other words for it.

Federer's fuckin brilliant, goes about his buisness with the minimum of hype and fuss,a great champion

he bores me, like samprass did...*yawn*:D
Well he was excellent today. Very entertaining match. Loads of fantastic shots. But Nadal will take him next year I reckon.

I hope so.
THe last two grand slam mens finals have been considerably better than the last two womens finals. Yesterdays was excellent, really top quality tennis from them both.

no mention of the british grand slam champion?

well done jamie murray - mixed doubles wimbledon champion - first british grand slam winner at wimbledon in 20 years since bates/durie won it

<clutching at straws>:D
