Wimbledon '09

Yeah - he was a good player but not quite a great one and mostly a victim of our expectation of him to be a great...
I think deep down, we'd all have been pretty amazed if Henman had won Wimbledon, because we all knew that he was only ever a decent player. I actually think he made the most of his talent, which is all you can ask.

I think he'd have won in 2001 if it hadn't rained.

I know that's probably typical English excuse making, but he had Ivanisevic on the rack and was storming it.

Agreed. He's a terrible commentator though, we can all agree on that.

Murray's draw is quite clear now, especially compared to Federer's (possible path to final: Troicki, Wawrinka, Simon, Roddick vs Federer's Kohlscrieber, Soderling, Tsonga, Djokovic). If he keeps on improving he's in with a sniff.

he his though hewitt looked f*ing good today...they are on the same side of the draw are they not?

At times today he just seemed to be toying with Gulbis, ill keep playing it back to you for you to fuck up. Tactically he appears second to none.

He really ought to refrain from shouting 'come on!' at opponents' unforced errors. Fair enough if it's a crucial point but he does it a tad too often.

he self applauds in that fashion, the hand pointing back at himself, its something most of the aussie population does these days:D

I only watched some highlights of today's game but on the first round he cheered on a few which most people would struggle to define as anything other than unforced errors.

At least he's not showing off his biceps to the crowds any more...

A great game going on now; Federer took two sets easily but an excellent third set from Kohlschreiber, coming back from a break down to take it 7-6. Great tennis.

Awesome serving. He's playing cold and hard and clinical. Very nice indeed.

Edit to add: very good win indeed.

Murray wasn't challenged there, too much. However he left that guy no place to hide.

He is utterly deserving of his ranking. And he's only going to get physically more refined and technique-wise more experienced, self-control doesn't seem to be an issue He's obviously learned a shit-load and keeps doing so..

Interesting, Federer got taken to tiebreaks twice.

If Murray keeps going well the hype will get unbearable.

Of course, it's lose lose for us English, as if he wins, all the Scottish posters will immediately be on to tell us that we don't really have the right to celebrate it ;) ;)

Closed...

Federer has Karlovic and then Djokovich, both of whom will be very tough indeed. Meanwhile Hewitt is staging a heroic comeback fron 2 sets down in typical style and is a break up in the fifth, and hopefully will consequently be knackered.
