Swimming got £22.5 million, whilst athletics got £26.5 million. Cycling has been exceptionally good value. They only had 10 events available compared to 36 for swimming and fuck knows how many for athletics. They won 12 out of 30 medals awarded, including 7 of the 10 golds available.
The extra value from cycling is, IMO, due in part to the fact that they pretty much only have the Manchester velodrome - they all live and train there. The funding for athletics and swimming is much more complicated with club structures - precisely because there is much better provision for those sports nationwide.
