Will the New Orleans floods finally bring down Bush?

as much as im no lover of the british state, i could never imagine it handling such a scenario in such a piss poor way.

I mean 5 fucking days before supplies!!!???

A emergency strategy based on telling people to "haul ass".

Just seems to follow from the US's disgusting individualism that sees any form of social cohesion as authoritarian communism.

Yes you're absolutely right. There other places that were devastated are not being given as much media attention. But they also seem to have been forgotton by the emergency services. One of the worst things I saw on the news yesterday was a carfull of senior citizens in Biloxi who were starving and thirsty who had no food or water.

What I can't understand is what seems to be the lack of urgency.

WE don't ahve a million trained people with the reddy logistics to fix it immediatly, we are only a nation of 300 million.

If you don't see the urgancy, its cause the press can't get in their either.

They are reporting on this like it was iraq, - standing outside trying to look in, they do have some people in their, but they don't have freedom of movemtent.

Have you any idea how shocked Britain - and most probably all of Europe (along with the rest of the world) - is with the US's total incompetence and shocking inability to deal with this tragedy?

It's been five days - FIVE FUCKING DAYS - before help has even begun to arrive in New Orleans. Your citizens are dying in their hundreds. There are dead bodies left to rot in the streets.

There is looting, hunger, anarchy, gang rape and lawlessness on the streets of America. There is anger, frustration and desperation.

Citizens are forced to loot food and drink because the state is unable to provide them with their basic services.

Americans should be ashamed and fucking angry about how its government is treating its citizens right now.

Absolutley! The richest and most powerful country in the world and they left their people to starve, live on television, for 5 days. I tell you what if it had happened in this country, Blair would have been out on his arse in a minute.

How many people do you think you could get on all those things? Are you joking? That wouldn't even take one block.

And thats not all of them.

A city that size would have enough to move every single child, so it would be far in excess of the 25,000 trapped.

They also have city busses, just like you guys and private busses.

Would they, and you assumne that they're still in the city on what cloth eared basis?

The 25 000 trapped is just those at the stadium btw. You did realise this didn't you?

Remember the stick the USSR got over Chernobyl?? This ranks up there for me.

A complete fucking disgrace, people in less developed nations can not grasp the complete ineititude of the relief operation (or lack of!).

The other thing that scares me is the seeming lack of self organisation on display, I just couldn't imagine such a social breakdown in Europe.

thats a blatant lie.....i saw them on tv last night in the town on boats talking to people who were trapped in their homes...moving around as freely as they pleased....asking them if they had supplies etc...they were responding no get us out of here , we have no water etc etc....one of the newswomen went to school on NO and was saying' oh i used to run track there ...great memories' *sigh*.....theyre fuckin in there....i saw it with my own eyes....

if a poxy news team can get in there why the fuckin hell cant those fuckin arsehole cunty cretins in washington get people in there??....i hope bush gets fuckin malaria and dies and takes his whole fuckin cabinet with him....

this WILL come back to haunt that evil cunt....watch and see....

The point is that the press are in there. They're reporting on the people starving, we can see it on the News. You're government should have moved heaven and earth to save those people, no expense should have been spared, asses should have been kicked, companies should have donated and offered their full resources. But it just looks like nothing happened. People starved. Babies died the dead rotted in the street and nothing happened for 5 days. I'm not American, but I was bloody angry watching people die infront of my eyes.

It not my gov't.

My government is the state of oklhoma and the us gov't.

Their govt is a courupt lousiana gov't.

And we and the other states in the area, have sent everything we have. But it can't get thou with the bridges out, its in a damn swamp.

You guys still don't have an idea of how wide spread it is, and the logistial problmes they face. I bet their has been tons and tons of food, not 5 miles away from the NO convention center.

But the people their don't have radio's or tv or even cell phones.

EVerything is out.

why was every piece of transport not seized and put to public service?

Why were freight companies not made to send supplies up the missisipi?

Why were supplies not distributed before the storm hit, or evactuation measures set in place for those people unable to get out by themselves?

So airlift it. We can't because of the crack head snipers. Fucking hell. Grow some fucking balls and help some people!

No expense has been spared. FEMA is spending 500 million a day, on top of the pre paid stockpiles.

And this is the result of their planning? You're going to have it taken out of your hands if you're not careful.

Too right, people are fucking dying, someone needs to show some courage and get in there to help them. It seems as though some people think thats its ok for American soldiers to die in a pointless war in Iraq, but not to save their own starving citizens.

I would risk it, and so would the thousands good old boys in speed boats who were turned away on yesterday or wensday. Did you see the vidio of all the privetly owned boats lined up?

Some one is so afraid of making a mistake that they are crippled.

And its not the us gov't or the people on the ground as far as i can see.

The NO police are handling it baddly but they have a hard time feeding themselves and comunicating with each other.............

yet 5 days in and the suppplies are only coming in now!

The tsumnai relief operation was well underway within a day and in far more difficult conditions than those in New Orleans.

No one around the world can believe the piss poor response to this disaster, no one!

The US who can invade a country overnight, can be outside Bagdhad in a week but yet can't fucking get supplies to the people lef stranded in New Orleans!

His ratings were at an all time low before the disastrous floods hit, but after what's widely perceived as monumentally bad accident management and piss-poor leadership, surely even Bush can't recover from this?

The news reports are full of Louisiana residents screaming their disbelief and anger at their treatment and if this rage permeates through to middle America, this must spell the end for Bush, no?

This disaster may highlight ineptitude and inefficiency in govt, but I think that it stretches much farther than just good old GWB. I think the problems that led to this state of affairs existed at the civic, state, and federal levels.

Bush might take heat over it, but I think a lot of years of neglect went into the construction of this mess.

It not a courage problem its a leadership one.

And its not federal, its the locals who are responsible.

How about contingency plans?

How about the world's richest nation managing to look after its own?

How come it's almost exclusively the poor who are suffering?

And how come it took five fucking long days before help even began to show up?

Help came quicker for those caught up in the tsunami in what was supposed to be a third world country, so what's your excuse for the incompetence that has led to hundreds of thousands of people being left unprotected, uncared for and vulnerable in the US?

Bush is the head of the US, and with that power comes responsibility.

The buck stops with him and he's got a lot of blood on his hands.

You speak with the wisdom that can only come from experience, like a guy who went blind because he looked at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it and now goes around the US speaking at high schools about the dangers of looking at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it.

Sorry PB, i meant the choppers should risk it - if you were as well (and i don't doubt it for a second) more power to your elbow :) Good man. You know your duty.

BULL FUCKIN SHIT....

when something is declared a national disaster...as it has been...its down to the federal govt to do something.....

people are dying and 'your' lot dont give a fuck.....shut up with all the nonsense and admit YOUR man has failed everyone....even you... ....

Fuckem, just go anyway. What are they going to do kill you all, I don't think so. Rush them and break the blockade and get in there. You can't do a worse job then them. If you get killed you would have died for something worthwhile. But I don't think you'll die, I think you'll save a lot of peoples lives. Every generation is faced with a great test, this is yours.

Basically, if you're rich, you're fine. If you're middle-class you're in a motel someplace running up your credit card and wondering what has happened to your home and your job. If you're poor or old, then you just get left to die.

No one in the US can now plead ignorance of that fact though. And the class don't matter crew on here have got something else to chew on.

All the moeny in the world wount by time.

And I'm very impresed with the federal gov'ts response, they are on top of their responsibilities.

Take a good look at the govenor, and tell me if you think she has the neccessary leadership skills to handle something like this.

Liberals are not able to do whats neccessary to put down wide scale looting.

And the people running things are not the equal of NEW York during 9/11, with was a much lesser thing btw..............
