Will I die pt 93 - chicken

Yes

And I reheated rice for YEARS until I happened upon this site, and specifically pogofish's tales of reheated-rice-related-near-death

Apparently there are certain rules you should follow. Like cool down the rice asap if you want to reheat it next day. Which totally goes against what my mum used to do when I was a kid. She swore by letting food cool down slowly and said that if you cooled it too fast it would make you ill

Why don't you search for one of the many threads on that subject. I'm not feeling strong enough to go into all that again today.

No, they're not - it's perfectly true about rice.

Just because it hasn't happened to you, it doesn't make the risk any less real.

People may decide to ignore the advice, but that doesn't make it wrong!

Fuck it, I've reheated rice every fortnight or so for the last four or five years, and I'm fine. I ain't gonna stop now.

I don't give a fuck whether you do or you don't! :D

Just pointing out for DC's benefit, that it is incorrect....nay fucking stupid......to conclude that something doesn't exist just because you haven't heard of it.

(oh and it's not the reheating that does it, it's how it's been cooled/stored in between first cooking it and reheating)

Leave it sheo

they ain't WORF IT  let them fucking die a horrible agonising death because they were too fucking stupid to decipher a few sentences or because they'd not heard of something

For the record, I don't pay much attention to the advice myself :p but that's not because I don't believe it because it's never happened to me :D - it's because I am tight :( so I don't like to see potentially lethal food wasted.

sorrry - how has it escaped the collective notice of the people of this thread that the person on the left of this photograph has a big green dangly udder-like codpiece?:hmm:

No, rice has its own specific form of nasties.

Also, some of the other nasties it can carry are not affected by heat.

well i haven't heard of any widespread and lethal rice-poisoning outbreaks in china, japan, india or anywhere else they eat a shit-load of rice. :)

Apart from the fact that bacteria will exist - whether you have heard of it or not you'll also mostly find that in countries where they eat a lot of rice, they also tend to prepare it freshly, as and when they need it.

Maybe they know something you don't. ;)
