Wildlife in your Garden

Just popped into the kitchen to make myself a coffee and spotted this watching me from the garden.

What wildlife visits your garden?

Actually I lie.

There was a Grouse on the window ledge of the house opposite me a few weeks ago, knocking on the window, trying to get in. Think he may have got locked out by his mates:hmm:

I have a picture somewhere, which I took because I live smack bang in the middle of a dirty city and was surprised to see it.

2 magpies were taunting a cat on a fence this morning

it was stalking them at first but they turned on it and it what itself and ran away

what a pussy

Last week I saw a goose being chased and mobbed by crows. They swept low over our garden, the goose pretty much had its tail tucked up under its belly, racing for the hills it was.

I get loads of goldfinches in my garden. :)

I've got a robin nesting in my garage at the moment. It might not be too happy when I have to get the lawnmower out as it's nested very close to it.

One grey squirrel
Two Ring neck doves
Robin
blue tits in nesting box
sparrows
lost of other birds don't know names.

And the magpies they know they not welcome

^ they don't like shingle, if you got veg patch put it round the edge.
I think you can put salt on the they dry up and die

---
I got photo somewhere of One grey squirrel hanging of bird feeder

I've got newts, toads, wrens, blackbirds, tits, sparrows, pied wagtails, finches, dragon flies, slow worms, slugs, snails, bees, wasps, magpies, rooks, the occasional gull, spiders, assorted insects and probably other things I've yet to see.

A grouse in the middle of a city?? Pic v necessary !

These bastards grow up to about 12 inches.

And they're poisonous!

Can give you quite a start if they run over your bare foot when yer watching telly on a warm summer evening.

We have a sparrowhawk that regularly swoops down into our garden.

Never actually seen it catch anything but see feather evidence sometimes.

I lurrrrves spar's.

Trained my first and only one (female,) back in 1976, but also flew one regularly with a friend in Gloucestershire in 1988/9.

Gorgeous, dainty, fast as a rocket and as highly strung as any neurotic poodle.

I haven't had either of these actually in the garden.......

But they regularly fly over.

And these are as common as pigeons in Trafalger Square.
