Honestly, I can't see how this is any different to having a priest visit a Christian in a similar state.

At the same time, if the girl has a history of mental illness and she's now been sectioned due to drug abuse, maybe psychiatry just might be beneficial. Institutionalisation is not a good thing, obviously, but this daft, knee-jerk predjudice some people have against psychiatric medicine pisses me off. At least it gets results.

Me too. There are circumstances under which it is useful and required. In my heart I feel that this is not one of those times. I know Lucinda and I know she can find her way back to this world.

She does not have a history of mental illness, but she is certainly quite frenetic, anthusiastic, fearless and intelligent.

I don't know enough about Lucinda's situation or psychiatry in general to possibly say, and I'm not going to upset anybody by trying to do that.
