Why won't my laptop go to sleep?

I have cameras installed in all urbs bedrooms and I have a massive bank of monitors like in that sharon stone film Sliver.

I wish you boring bastards would do more than have a sly under-the-duvet wank though.

sensible answers!

try holding down shift and hitting the shutdown button. Think that works.

Apparently so does this:

Right click and go to properties go to screen saver and click on Monitor Power.. click the power button then go over to advanced and you can change your power button to change to sleep.

im guessing your on xp right?

Oh and your web cam is hot, you should cut out that singinging into your hair brush thing though.

click start
click run
type cmd
press ok
in the black box that appears type:
powercfg /query
press enter
post what it says here

do the same for the following commands

powercfg /list
powercfg /availablesleepstates

There is a LOT Of filth on this thread considering it is a mere computer question.

I don't know what that says about me, or YOU.

OK I can fo that but it won't let me copy and paste.FFS.

I'll try and paste it tonight, somehow.

Sometimes I feel like life is against me.

It could be a program that does not allow your laptop to hibernate if it is running. I have some audio production software that does not allow it. Maybe try a reboot to clear the RAM etc and try again.

I never got to the bottom of it, but my laptop wouldn't power off when I had 4OD installed. Power worked perfectly before and after I uninstalled it. Nobody else seemed to have the same problem, so I put it down to a warp in the multiverse and moved on, never again watching Channel 4 except in realtime.

right so hang on, what can I actually do about this?

I uninstalled 4od a while ago i think. Did i? Hang on. I'll check.

Oh and Pigtails and Dessatio, take it to pms ffs cheers.

Oh. I just read the OP, particularly the bit where it says "why won't my laptop go to sleep?" and not "why won't my laptop go to sleep any more?".
