Why the tories will lose the next election?

How did you work out that number?

It's invented bullshit designed to scare. In fact the Tories will create jobs thus reducing unemployment.

The last time the tories took over from Labour they made a big deal about the length of the dole queues (less than a million) and proceeded to make them even longer in the name of "job creation) in fact the destruction of the majority of our industrial base.
They "created", over 18 years, fewer jobs than they annihilated, and disguised the fact through the notorious manipulation of the unemployment figures.

You're living in a dream-world.

just about anyone working in london who is the second lowest grade in the civil service will be earning that!

Correct, added to that in the DWP ALL Executive Officers, ie EO, both in and out of London will be affected as in all likelihood will all AO ie Adjudication Officers in the DWP on the max of their spine point. However all these staff members have already had a 3 year pay freeze or real terms pay cut. In effect Osborne is calling on them to accept another pay freeze on top of their recent 3 year freeze.

Where is your evidence for this claim?

There's no evidence.
There's plenty of rhetoric (which appears to be based on the pipe dream that a conservative government will draw overseas employers to open up shop here), to be sure, but of evidence there is NONE.

There will be a load of ordinary workers on £18,000 in 2011 !!! Devious cunt
Could be a way of promoting private sector in public services, by giving incentive to wrok for privatised agencies and subsidaries competing with public sector, making privatisation look more dynamic. Either way wanting to screw both groups of employees.

I really don't see it happening. Labour have pissed off a lot of its middle class supporters off with Iraq and talking tough on benefit reform, pfi etc etc....A lot of their working class supporters either dont know or have forgotten just how bad the Tories were.
In the last election the Tories had Michael Howard a pantomine baddie in charge...This one they will have fresh faced media friendly prince david cameron....
What odds are the bookies offering on a Labour win?

Maybe weak Tory Government than a Strong New Labour Government, although nder Gordon Brown not particularly strong in popularity!

the tories also supported the war, and if that's going to be a factor in this election then surely it would have had more of an effect in 2005.

I think it was quite a factor amongst MC left leaning people in 2005. The difference then was that the Tories had Michael Howard as leader...Core tories may have liked him but floating voters prefered Blair...This time who will those floating voters prefer!!. And if the MC left leaning people stay away from the polls or vote for minor parties again then it will help Cameron into power.

New Labour: 14/1
Etonians: 1/3

Those odds show a slip by the bookies - well worth a flutter on Labour with those odds.
-----------

Supposedly the latest poll shows that the Torys has lost 4% during its conference - you could summarise from that that the more people see the more they dislike.

*As to the Cameron speech: Conservatives the party of the poor! Luckily the audience remembered to clap!

Enjoyed seeing token black tory, and token young female tory stuck behind him nicely in the frame for his speech.

And the LibDems had Charles Kennedy, who was considerably more popular as an individual than Howard. Clegg doesn't generate the same personal support.

2 Scrap trident.
It's an ego boosting thing anyway we don't need one and have no use for it in the event of a nuclear attack we are intending what to ruin whatever will be left of the other part of the planet too?

Lots of good ideas there, but the answer to this one is "Yes". Not a lot of good against America or Russia, but if one of the smaller nuclear powers were to turn hostile, then this would be the ace up our sleeve. And it is the fear of that which is the key.

At least, that's the theory.

They have just told 2.6 million people that time is up on incap ben and they are to take 33% of income off them. 2.6 million votes lost.

They have told the people on 30-50 k that they are to lose their tax credits should they win

Votes lost who knows 3, million?

They have just told people who were born in 1950 or below they have to work another year!!
Votes lost 2 mill?

I don't think its as cut and dried as people seem to think it is iyswim?

Would agree that the tactical error the tories have made have made last week the election a whole lot more interesting. They have in a week managed to greatly annoy everyone in the public sector, the gay and jewish community withtheir nazi pals in europe, and anyone over 50

If labour are able to cobble together a grouping of minority interests they could pull off a hung parlaiemnt at very least

This week has been very depressing. The thought of another term of Tory cunts (not that I'm a fan of NL either) just fills me with a very real dread. I fear for the future. What future? What hope is there for people like me near the bottom. How will I support myself in a hostile society that demonises people who have nothing and are dependent? How can I even aspire to a decent life when the millionaires running the country won't even follow through on their promises to help people and all I can hope for is some crummy job without even any prospects. Is that what human life is supposed to be? Is it enough just to take solace in the belt tightening rhetoric and the sub-christian notion of working for a reward later in life (though even that's gone) or when I die?

So not that much different than today then?

I'm getting fed up of Radio 4 promoting the Tories and would like to hear more impartiality and shrewd commentary regarding the current social, economic, and political situation during the run-up to the election *sigh*

Maybe not. But I can't help thinking it will be worse still under Cameron. A more radical version of the shit we have right now.

Only the other day some twat (thoughs adly far from alone) on the radio saying the next election will be a war between the 'workers and the shirkers' - the employed and the unemployed.
