And the significance of employing an individual to work in this country is what?
I was under the impression the boycott was about South Africa as a country - teams, products etc etc
Come to think of it, I was fucked off we employed Kim Barnett long after his South African adventures so for that. But as far as Procter is concerned, nope, not a problem.
None at all really. I'm just a little wary of people claiming that the employment practices of one county are significantly different (let alone better) to those of any other. Apart from anything else, it's a real hostage to fortune. I'd guess the main reason Hampshire rather than Gloucestershire employ Mr Warne would be that they were more prepared to offer him a contract that was to his satisfaction.
Talking of Hampshire captains, can anybody explain how Nick Pocock was able to captain the side for so long bearing in mind his inability to play cricket to the required standard?
Hants have a habit of employing captains who can't play cricket, they've had various aristos long after everyone else had grown out of it. See also Mark Nicholas.
Mind you, we had Graveney for a while so we can't talk.
Justin, I have an entirely rational intense dislike of Warne, it colours everything else. Bear this in mind when discussing any posts I make about him
Go on Kent. Took a beating of Sussex but still top. Oh & thanks to the selectors for not picking Key. I think Kent will win the County Championship now.
