Why has God's promise been ignored?

I didn't bother to read this thread, seenits title, but if this comment is no joke may I suggest you to try to cure yourself from what I call "post-colonial disease".
You can start with noticing that we do not need your patronising idiocies to begin with. Thank you for considering the thought that we can think and conclude for ourselves.

salaam.

and as for san diegos comment, no that's Mordechai your thinking of, he's in the prison wing of a great big nut house called Israel

I'd have thought that the "Roadmap to Peace" was just another meaningless phrase with about as much real value as any other meaningless slogan...the War on Terror, for example.

Go and read the Project for a New American Century and also read about Derby's Pre-millenial Dispensationalism.

Perfectly true, Reading Aldebaran's posts shows s/he has more than enough patronising idiocy already.

Genesis 15:18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

don't get me wrong I'm not religious, but it appears that the Bible is a very important book and should be treated seriously

As an atheist who considers the differences between Judaism/Islam/Christianity to be merely a family feud, one could say that there is no contradiction here.

Ishmael,

Ishmael (Hebrew: יִשְׁמָעֵאל, Standard Yišmaʿel Tiberian Yišmāʿêl; Arabic: إسماعيل, Ismā'īl; translates as "he will hear/obey God") was Abraham's eldest son, born by his wife's handmaiden Hagar.

In the Qur'an, Ishmael is considered one of the prophets of Islam

Each of Ishmael's sons was a tribal chief and settled everywhere from Havilah to Shur, i.e. from the Persian Gulf to the border of Egypt. From the twelve sons of Ishmael are derived the twelve tribes of the Arabians. Jerome says that in his time they called the districts of Arabia by the names of the tribes.

I imagine the counter argument will quote,

Then God said, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation. But my covenant I will establish with Isaac,

Still, hardly denies the sons of Ishmael the right to reside in or rule over the lands "from the river of Egypt as far as the great river the Euphrates"

'Israel' is a neo-Nazi colony of the United States, as everyone not in the pay of either knows. There is (don't tell the children) no God, and if there were, He wouldn't be interested in Nazi politics or rewarding child-murderers. I do not understand the point of this thread. It is post-modern, or something?

have you ever been there? It is really nothing like my idea of a neo-nazi colony.
It is true that the israeli army behaves badly towards arabs in the occupied territories, but occupying forces usually do behave badly towards the people of the territory they're occupying. That's the nature of armies. And it wasn't Israel who started the war.

Within Israel proper, Arab Israelis have their own land, do not have to serve in the army, but are still eligible for welfare.

Actually I agree with snorbury, he's dead right. The Israelis would be by far the best candidates for ruling the middle East, if only the arabs didn't hate them. It's all abraham's fault. If he hadn't had sex with hagar.. Actually in that case it's all ~God's fault, for making Abraham wait for too long. Idiot.

All in all I'm heartily sick of people slagging off the Jews for the way they behave in Israel. The Jews are the only surviving people of the ancient world. They're the most extraordinary people. What people think of as Jewish racism, is just family solidarity, and what family doesn't look after its own first.?

And why the fuck shouldn't the Jews have some land of their own? And if they're to have some why shouldn't it be Israel. You can hardly say they don't have a historical connection to the place.

And Israel is this tiny sliver of land in the middle East. The English, French, Spanish and Portuguese took over two entire continents, but you don't hear people saying get those european invaders out- give the land back to the people who had it before. What the jews have done is miniscule in comparison to the Europeans, and they only did it after an attempt to exterminate them by Europeans, and then Europeans have the nerve to criticise the Jews.
