Why Does My Cat Keep Growling?

Whatever it is that's changed with the Cat.. I think you should sorta go with it.. They do change as the years go by... Don't take him to bed... yet let him have access... If he wants to he will.. if not.. wait till he wants to... He just might have realised he has a choice...

He may have an unapparent health issue...

If he's acting out of sorts get a check up with his vet... Can you pick him up at other times without growls..?

Yep he's fine, otherwise and he's he's fine in the spare bedroom its just our one, and its only been the last couple of months aswell, very odd :hmm:

rad nance posting

Just thought, maybe another cat has come through our catflap when we've working and sprayed in the bedroom and george recognises the smell, maybe that could make him growl so?

Hard to say what's going on with cats CC.. I'd say get a vet check... They may..( or may not ) have an idea what's changed with Cat... He's called George... :)

Could be another cat in his space... Does he actively avoid the room now...? My Weecat avoided lots of places after I got the male Greyhound... She hates him still yet takes evey chance to lie all over his places leaving her scent there and Grey wont go near those places anymore..

Weecat being female and exerted her authority over all that is... :)

Just leave him to decide where he wants to sleep.

Our cats change their minds all the time. They'll sleep in the lounge for a while, then one of them will get obsessed with getting into the bathroom to sleep on the towels etc. Delilah sleeps on the stairs a lot recently.

True.. Weecat took to chilling out in the bath for a while recently... Then I realised the central heating pipes went under the bath and it was comfy warm for her there... Plastic or whatever bath...

Was a bit of an early morning eye opener to find her comfy in the bath of a morning..

Then I found her with her head poking out of a rolled up duvet on my worktable... I have a pic somewhere...

She used to.. and still does sleep with my youngest lad when he's around... Not every night but most nights...

Cats do like to go wherever takes their fancy...

True.

Mogs can be divided into 'place cats' and 'people cats.' 'Place cats will have staked out a series of spots, all spots that they know are warm, comfy and safe, and will shift between those spots while only occasionally taking their place on a human lap, and only then when they want attention and fussing. Having established absolute command of the most comfortable spots and furniture in the house, they're usually reluctant to surrender those spots willingly.

'People cats', by contrast, positively love the attention and fussing of any human that's available, even strangers will find their laps colonised and claimed as yet another spot of feline real estate. They'll take any lap that's going and demand to be tickled, stroked, complimented and generally fussed over and often get more than a little peeved if they're denied a spot on someone's lap. Once they've conscripted you into their entourage of favoured humans and assigned you fussing duties, your lap is their lap, simple.

i often find myself waking, teetering on the edge of the bed, with the cat fast asleep in the middle of the bed.

Me too :D
Effing kingsize bed and all. Well, at least she enjoys it.

Rad Nance - Cats do what they want to do. Just stop trying to make it do anything. Leave it be. It'll be fine. Mine changes her preferences every now and then. It's normal. Just let them get on with it.

Update on Growling George.

He came on the bed last night and growled for about two minutes before settling down for the night and stayed right through. Silly boy - he loves it really.

My lot are always desperate to come to bed with us, we have to have a rota as to who is allowed in the bedroom cos otherwise Radar gets bullied off the bed by the others and he does like to have a nighttime cuddle, so they are allowed in on alternate nights. They like to stay in there and snuggle up under the covers until we get up, so it all works out well. Mine are the type of cats that like a lot of attention and whenever I sit or lie down I am immediately weighed down by a pile of purring felines :D But if your cat doesn't want to go in the bedroom it seems a bit unfair to force it on him, and it's just going to make him resent you.
