Why do people wrap their suitcases in cling film?

So you think the British ones are ok? :hmm:

No, not really. They're all fucking lowlife.

It would be easy enough to catch them too, just put bait cases into the system and fit them with little video cameras.

Then sack them after shaming them by playing the video on a loop on a jumbo screen where they work.

The wrap also potentially helps in the event that the clasp on your case is broken/comes undone due to the usual rough handling by the baggage orcs.

Not much mind, but potentially saves you from having your stuff exploded everywhere if the bag is full to bursting.

I always lock my suitcase - wouldn't trust any baggage handlers as far as I could throw em - and this has always been fine, everywhere I have traveled except for the fucking States.

Mrs Swarf had to calm my indignation and brewing rant at LAX, having been told I would have to unlock all my stuff before it would be loaded.
Of course then you try and transfer any remaining, vaguely valuable stuff to your carry on, only to be told it is too fucking heavy and you can't take it on.

To be fair to Mrs Swarf, her timely intervention probably saved me from a deep cavity search and quick shoeing behind a flimsy curtain.

Heathrow customs are usually right mumpy buggers, but the Yanks take the Cunt crown on this one IME.

Good, my friend used to work as a locksmith and the airports occasionally arrange for locksmiths to come and open all the staff lockers so they can check for pilfered goods. They're always catching people at it

It costs 5 quid at Heathrow to wrap your case in quickly-slash-this-open-cos-I-paid-a-fiver-so-must-have-something-valuable-inside film.

I've just seen this for the first time - Naples airport had people and a machine 'wrapping' your cases if you wanted it - I thought it looked cool :)

I saw this cling filming for the first time in India over my last trip. Other people had binliners and gaffa tape over their bags

Re Bagagge handlers: My ex went to play at a festival in Croatia a couple of years ago. He put his wages in his baggage which he checked in. He was really surprised and upset when he got home to find that the money got stolen. Muppet

It's good for small children's car seats. Two of them can be tesselated and then clingfilmed into a sturdy, baggage handler-proof structure.
