Why do people wrap their suitcases in cling film?

This is why I only ever travel with really cheap luggage.

Me too - I have a mate who is a real designer label queen and forked out 900 squids on a fucking louis vuitton suitcase  I told him he was mad but it ended up getting bust open - obvious it was going to happen - 900 pounds MAD

Surely

a) thieves can just slash it with a razor should they wish to?

b) US customs can rip off to look for terrorists and stuff (just as you can't lock bags that pass thru the US unless you use a openable by them lock)

c) thieves will be more drawn to bags that it looks like the owners are scared of having stuff nicked from?

d) loads of the wrapped bags come thru with the wrapping torn

I once used one of those wire meshes on my backpack. Never again.

Yeah, but at least you know where the bag was taken apart. If it went on intact when you checked in you know it's probably the baggage handlers :D

Pfff.

Customs can go in your bags whenever they want.

I reckon....

Every time I fly to the States, I get to the hotel and open my bag and find a leaflet from Customs saying they opened it and checked it. This always happens after I have checked it in and before I pick it up.

Paranoid Americans :rolleyes::D

Baggage handlers are generally thieving scum once you've left the relatively safe confines of the E.U.

With the amount of wrap this guy's putting on, you'd need more than your fingers to rip this clingfilm to pieces quickly without being noticed

I have seen loads of suitcases clingfilmed, but I didn't realise until today that people did it from choice. I thought it was a security thing that some airports were doing, to stop anyone from interfering with luggage.

It's quite popular in SEA where people are paranoid drugs are going to be planted :D

But what I don't understand is why people feel the *need* to take huuuuuuuuuuuuge fuck off suitcases with them? I mean, seriously, how much sh!t do you really need?

When I go away for 3 weeks my bag normally weighs around 15kg, relatively small compared to the dead-body trunks I see some people taking :D

Whe I go to New York I take a huge fuck off suitcase, empty. It comes back full though :)
