Why black and white films are better.

I keep seeing my new username in the thread list on the front page, thinking 'yay, a new poster's replied to the thread I was reading' and then realising it is me. :( :D

Brief Encounter in colour - I think not !

Plus Saturday night / Sunday morning , Room at the Top , A Run for your Money etc etc

Why black and white films are better.
Surely it's more a case of the black and white films that are still around, watched and revered are usually a selection of the better ones, where in the current day there's no such filtering.

Damn, you've just inadvertently reminded me that 'Hell Drivers' was on this afternoon and I forgot to tape it.
:o

Great film with an amazing cast.

Funny thing was, having watched it in work(we're quiet) I couldnt think of the name of actor who played Stanley Baker's brother, Looked up on imdb and read that it ws David McCallum, with that Adrian Chiles announces on nthe One Show the night's guest, david McCallum. Spooky!!

There are loads of old shit films but because there are so many and so few slots for them to fit on on TV etc they tend to play the good ones. I assume this is where the majority of us first saw these classics (was anyone here watching B&W films at the cinema when they came out?).
