Why are dubstep fans retarded morons?

My main problem with dubstep is that about 60%* of the tunes I've listened to have literally been an 8-16 bar loop that just repeats. The remaining 40% is pretty good. I like the really dark/edgy stuff and the bouncier side of it.

That is all.

Old School Romantic Dubcore Rock'n'Pop is the direction my stereo is pointed toward these days

Just like to add myself to the list of non-16-year-olds who like dubstep! :)

Could also add a couple of my mates who like it too.

Went to a dubstep night a few months back with a really huge sound system, was amazing

Lol, old people. Bless your pissy pants. I SAID BLESS YOUR PISSY PANTS. NO, NOT oh never mind.

Was at FWD and some guy in a vest pissed in the sink! < Not really a reflection on dubstep crowd

Anyhow, the atmosphere is always party at dubstep sessions in my xp

I used to love FWD, but now it's on a fucking Sunday night and plays a lot of UK Funky. The only place to hear Dubstep to really understand it. Go to FWD if you want to really get into it, listening to it in your front room on your hi fi aint the way. I like the dubby reggae side of Dubstep.

^^^^^^^
Agreed. Another older Dubstep fan here. It's all about hearing it on a proper system, I never really 'got' it until I went to FWD a few years ago. To be fair I haven't been to any Dubstep nights recently but when I was going it was a pretty diverse crowd in terms of age & style (indie kids getting down with the rude boys). My impression of the people wasn't retarded morons at all. Kind of the opposite - everyone seemed proper friendly & genuine.

Dunno about that track, but you should definitely check out 16 Bit, King Cannibal, The Broken Note and Matt Green for starters. Oh and anything to do with Oris Jay/Darqwan.

I was relistening to this broken note mix the other day. Flick through to the BNote bits and the finale to alot of dark d'n'b & dubstep, the records can't really get any more scary or menacing.

Went to the SinCity thing the other week and things seemed to be healthy musically, shooting off everywhere, whether the crowd are still into it in a year who knows, it was really 05-08 being the golden years.

All my mates who like dubstep totally don't fit your chavvy sterotype, we all started listening to dubstep because it was getting played at the DnB events

Angry, chavvy, under 16 year olds...

Im 18
I love music
Dubstep has recently come into my life
I do not fit any of the steriotypes u lot have been mentioning
Yea there are some ppl like that
Thats because of Dubsteps deformed brother...
AKA Grime..
Leave Dubstep Alone.

yeah it sounds more like grime than dubstep, and i reckon most of it's just front anyway. these kids on forums go on like yardies but they probably still go to school and get bolloxed off their teachers for not doing their homework....

I'm not young but I tend to keep up with new music trends and enjoy checking out whatever fresh sounds are around at the mo.

Dubstep has - for the first time in my life - made me react like an old person. "Why on earth would anyone want to listen to that?" Often it sounds apocalyptic and just plain unpleasant.

I have no probem with darkness in music in general, I generally like my beats dark, heavy and rough. But I almost can't take dubstep seriously, its just childish -no boyish, and sci-fi like. I can imagine young teenage boys getting into it, but I'm slightly baffled that some of my friends are getting into it.

The one positive thing is that it will probably help some newer and better styles emerge. On a simple level just slowing the beat down means they can do a lot more.

I wish I 'got' it, but I don't...

there are lots of types of dubstep

check out 'Obscured By Clouds' and the stuff that Stivs and Life4Land do, it's basically just reggae made better

Leave Dubstep Alone.

None of that rhymes (I hope you realised)...

:hmm:

I like the fast moving clouds stuff (not so keen on jazzsteppa).

But that's because (to me) it isn't dubstep at all. I have heard people call Burial dubstep and I can kinda accept that, but what characteristics does this music have that makes it dubstep? Or what kind of dubstep is this?

It's definitely not what I, or most people, would think of when you say dubstep.

that's the trouble with genres innit, since dubstep came out, everything a bit dubby between 130 and 150bpm is dubstep.....

i must admit, there is a lot of it that leaves me really cold, just a beat and a sound effect looping for 5 minutes, but that's the same as DnB, it starts off as just music, and then people start making music for that genre and it doesn't really stand on it's own...

This I agree with - it's very, very male music...sometimes it sounds like the main aim has been to make a track that exploits a clever filter effect or something similar, rather than write an actual tune with some soul to it...

Not to say that this doesn't happen a lot in electronic music anyway, but I've noticed it more listening to dubstep...similar things happened in the early days of 'nu skool breaks', and similar ghosts haunt a lot of minimal house/techno tracks and producers...

I'm a dubstep fan and am of average intelligence. How does that fit in with the prognosis?

Genres and sub-genres and sub-sub-genres of music really annoy me for this reason.

Dubstep is ok, some great stuff, lots of absolute rubbish though. It just doesn't strike me as very exciting..

not off the top of my head. i think that was the tune that switched me on to how dubstep can be good

you'll have to look for yourself :p

But the vast majority of dubstep is utter shite imo. I think any dubstep that I like will also fit into another category.

I probably would have stumbled across it sooner or later when searching through idm/ electronic dub/ ambient type stuff.
