Poe's not bad, his poetry is far better than his short stories though IMO.

And yeah, Lovecraft pisses all over Poe in the creeping, existensial terror department.

I agree with that - I think it's ridiculous to teach shakespeare to kids - a lot of whom barely read anything in modern english, let alone in old funny talk...

Yep. Even dafter to drag them to the theater and make them *watch* Shakespeare. Even I can´t follow a Shakespeare play I haven´t read if I see it in the theater, so I know that most adults can´t. And obviously children will be hopelessly lost. I´m sure it puts them off for life.
