Who's up for coming to the next Uglyfunk with me then?

I like it as it's only 15 minutes home on the bus for us.

But I can understand why people get bored of it.

My Good Lady Wife and I will be attending coming straight from Motorheadache - A tribute to Lemmy. :D

it's a 5 minute cycle for me but it's just not worth it...might turn up though, need to start being more sociable..

You're lucky that the punters put up with it. By rights we should be voting with our feet. If we support this shit hole then it will remain the only option won't it.

I'm not going there again anyway.

There's always something that pisses some people off about any venue though, surely. I know loads of people who moaned about Uglyfunk being at the Elektrowerkz. Admittedly I've never been to this new place, though, so I might be on here moaning next week!

Yeah, the bouncers at Electrowerks are cunts, I spose at least you don't have them at the White Post.

See, I've never had a stroke of trouble from the security at Elektrowerkz  I know loads of people who hate the griminess of the place as well, whereas I quite like it :o OTOH I have an irrational dislike of the Foundry - I fucking hate going to that place, even though rational sense tells me it has its good points. (The toilet graffiti makes it worthwhile though.)

i think generally everyone is trying not to do stuff there, this was planned ages ago i gather.

Interesting mentioning the Foundry. I think it improves with age as you watch the savage makeover or loss of every pub in london, this place is in stasis c96. a kind of art shag hangover.

electrowerkz has an awful sound system and it's limited (all rooms)

there are a couple of worthwhile venues out there for underground events, but you need to bring your own system really.

I went to one last night actually. Not sure what's around that could be affected by the noise though.

The few times I've been to Electrowerkz they've had bouncers sitting on a stool actually on the dancefloor:rolleyes:
My mate did a night there - bar packed up at 5 instead of 6, general being fucked around by security etc..shite system..
..surprised to hear the Foundry slagged off:confused: has it changed a lot since the Gimpo days??
It is hard to find a good venue for a party though..not on a "back in the day" rant but a few years ago you had Pleasure Rooms, Trenz, Tyssen St, the Premises, the George to choose from for your less commercial techno-esque ventures..
..now half of those places have been turned into yuppie flats:(
and now the Oylmpics are coming to "regenerate" all those Hackney warehouses:eek:

What happened to The Dungeons? I had some cracking nights there.

I don't see the problem with the place. I quite like it..

Didn't know what to expect really but that was an ace night mainly thanks to the gnarrly gnarrly bass from Uberdog, Warlock & Mustard Gun (dirty tekno gangsta) Was a really good vibe anyhow & i wasn't the oldest one there by long margin;) Great to see a big U75 turn out. As the for the venue, it kinda works as a space, i'm sure it'll be gone very soon, but yeah everyone's pissed off with owner.

That was a wicked laugh :) Really nice energetic vibe. It was boiling in there though, and it bugged me that we weren't allowed to go outside and cool off. Couldn't stay all night as had to escort my sleepy friend home, but had a great time while I was there and enjoyed meeting new people and catching up with old friends

I felt like absolute death this morning though.

I didn't think the night was all that tbh. My previous (& first) Uglyfunk was disappointing... this was no different. The music didn't really grab me the first time I went but thought I'd go again to give it a second chance. Oh well it was a night out & good to see some familiar faces there...

I enjoyed that, the music was right up my street... although both sound systems (especially the one in the smaller room) were way too rough on the ears. I think I've been spoiled by that rig at Corsica though...

Good to meet you May, sorry I was flitting around too much for a decent chat. I think all that, er, Red Bull made me a bit impatient :D

I was gasping for fresh air by the end too, although it was a bit ventilated at the back of the second room. But upstairs was rank

You too, and don't worry about the flitting - I was in no fit state to chat anyway, all you would have got from me would have been a disjointed stream of consciousness babble :D :o

The sound system was definitely pushing the limits of ear respectability. It was great while I was there, but Mr K tells me that Nino Fight and Steady P were just too painfully loud - he came home with horrible tinnitus.

I thought Ali's set was bloody awesome

I saw some of Ali's set, but tbh would have enjoyed it (and stayed) a lot more if the sound hadn't been so rough. I stuck my earplugs in a few times because I'm paranoid about fucking up my hearing after a few encounters with shoddy sound systems.

I'm hoping to get Ali to play for a party in the not-too-distant future

Ooh, let me know if you do :) In a purely selfish fashion, I'm well glad he's back in the UK cos I always enjoy hearing him play out! Not to mention taking the piss out of him afterwards, of course :D

I thought the music was really mediocre and not a patch on Serious Business, Housebreaking, Re-Rave-All, etc. I'm not sure how much was down to the sound or coming hyped up from Motorheadache.

I barely danced at all. :(

I had a similar experience, I had to go, the music wasn't doing it for me and a great party was kicking of in Enfield and there was a car waiting so my choice to go was really a no brainer and when I walked into that party I knew beyond any doubt that I had made the right choice. I've had great nights at Uglyfunk but Manik was always going to top it.

I'm a bit surprised a lot of people are slagging the venue, and night off

Leaving the politics out of it, I think that's a quality venue - it's in a grimy area but it's not exactly far from the BR station is it? It's safe to party in and feels like a dirty techno venue ought to feel. The sound system was a bit loud at times but I've heard a lot worse (at least it was powerful) and I thought the music in the main room was excellent - twisted, completely wrong techno to which I danced like a bloody lunatic for several hours

£6 quid is fine as far as I'm concerned

Top atmosphere, met loads of quality people and had the best night out i've had in a while - much better than bangface last month

Thanks to uglyfunk for making the effort
