So being Hendrix roadie proves his metal credentials? How does that make sense? Didn't Motorhead have 1 good tune?

*attaches flame retardent hat*

If you don't understand, I don't think I can explain it. But do you not think Jimi had a bit of an influence on metal guitar?

so not king crimson then?

re tap.

they have to be metal.. they went all the fucking way up to 11!

and lets face it some of the music was actually not that bad (in a piss take of other bands stylee)

I dearly wish I still had the video that was sent to Jonathon Ross* featuring Venom and a host of other equally ridiculous bands doing their 'Black Metal' nonsense.

It was actually funnier than Spinal Tap.

(*I was in a band with his brother, so got to see it)

(cries quitely in the corner coz her mum is just about to shove all her 'metal' vinyl on ebay)

"goodbye my lovelies"...........................waves !

:(

:)

Motorhead had the look and sound down to a tee. Weird thing is, Lemmy hasn't aged a day since 1984.

I was tempted with Metallica but they've been shit ever since Cliff died sadly.

Been listening to Machine Head the last couple days.. so I'm voting for Deep Purple.. though its probably Rock as fuck, rather than Metal as fuck.. does it Rock though. oh yes.. ( at post)

First time I saw Saxon, they were supporting Motorhead. Top night! :D

I still have that second Saxon album & the one inbetween is actually sitting on my turntable at this very moment! :o :)

Venom...ridiculous...nonsense

We are obviously not talking about the same band. There must be another band, this one ridiculous and nonsensical, but also coincidentally called Venom. I shall get Cronos, Mantas and Abaddon to call their satanic lawyers and act immediately.

Much as I salute your indefatigability editor, you are clearly a FALSE METALLER.

Out of interest how metal do people consider slipknot?

or the murderdolls (though mrs pingu calls them the murderdoilies)

Slipknot and the Murderdolls...

They're both linked with metal I suppose but suffer from being overtly marketed at teenagers, specially the Murderdolls. :(

Aren't they more glam/ punk, perhaps though?

Slipknot just scrape into metal for me, owing to bandmembers liking for proper death and black acts and their own blastbeats and camped up brutality but they remain a novelty act. ;)

There's tuppenceworth for ya.

Good album that. Still dunno how sepultura is meant to be pronounced.

This one gets me going. Just blasted battery and surprised how I still remember the words!!!

Downloaded it this afternoon because of this thread and
it's surprisngly good for a 20 year old album!!!

Damn, I hate these nostalgic kinda threads. Christ, I'll be growing my hair next or spend a few hours stitching patches onto my favourite suit.

Both complete bollocks and about as metal as Bon Jovi.

Slipknot are a gimmicky faux-death-metal band for prepubescent hoodie kids too pussy to listen to Slayer and too ignorant to have heard of Sepultura. Their last studio album was an absolute joke of an attempt to distance themselves from nu-metal by including the odd guitar solo or weird time signature to make aforementioned cretins go "dude! that was sick!".

The Murderdolls are a crappy Misfits-tribute band with a bunch of ugly Marilyn Manson rejects under the mistaken impression that they "rock" because they pay idiot journalists to namedrop Kiss and Motley Crue when discussing them.

I quite like Slipknot, with the proviso that they must never be taken at all seriously, they're a bit of a laugh and some of their stuff isn't too bad. (Although I've only really heard their very early stuff.)

I suppose I left my metal phase before the Murderdolls turned up because I know nothing about them.

On the occasions when I feel like a metal album to feel like a pissed off teenager again it has to be this one:

Where did it go all wrong? :D

Sepultura are one of Epona's favourites and I feel sure that should I let her on puter she will add to Maiden's mounting votes

Prefer Roots as an album btw, though Chaos is good :p
