Best WU

reckon currently ghostface is my fave cos he has got mad flow and has had a good couple of releases recently and is generally consistent and a character.. but i think about liquid swords with such fondness constanly blasting out of my tape walkman in secondary school that it has to be genius everytime.

fave wu verse ever goes to deck though... pure classic stuff and delivery is too good.

I smoke on the mic like smokin Joe Frazier
The hell raiser, raisin hell with the flavor
Terrorize the jam like troops in Pakistan
Swingin through your town like your neighborhood Spiderman
So uhh, tic toc and keep tickin
While I get ya flippin off the shit I'm kickin
The Lone Ranger, code red, danger!
Deep in the dark with the art to rip charts apart
The vandal, too hot to handle
Ya battle, you're sayin Goodbye like Tevin Campbell
Roughneck, Inspector Deck's on the set
The rebel, I make more noise than heavy metal

I think he was a proper member cos they didn't bother puttig featureing cappadona on the album like the normally do with mere underlings.

dave

Lol, ok. I've never heard him mentioned as an official member, but that reasoning is as good as anything, so it'll do me. :D

Right.

And...
I bomb atomically, Socrates' philosophies
and hypothesis can't define how I be droppin these
mockeries, lyrically perform armed robbery
Flee with the lottery, possibly they spotted me
Battle-scarred shogun, explosion when my pen hits
tremendous, ultra-violet shine blind forensics
I inspect you, through the future see millenium
Killa B's sold fifty gold sixty platinum
Shacklin the masses with drastic rap tactics
Graphic displays melt the steel like blacksmiths
Black Wu jackets queen B's ease the guns in
Rumble with patrolmen, tear gas laced the function
Heads by the score take flight incite a war
Chicks hit the floor, diehard fans demand more
Behold the bold soldier, control the globe slowly
Proceeds to blow swingin swords like Shinobi
Stomp grounds and pound footprints in solid rock
Wu got it locked, performin live on your hottest block

AND...

It's been twenty-two long hard years of still strugglin
Survival got me buggin, but I'm alive on arrival
I peep at the shape of the streets
And stay awake to the ways of the world cause shit is deep
A man with a dream with plans to make C.R.E.A.M.
Which failed; I went to jail at the age of 15
A young buck sellin drugs and such who never had much
Trying to get a clutch at what I could not... could not...
The court played me short, now I face incarceration
Pacin -- going up state's my destination
Handcuffed in back of a bus, forty of us
Life as a shorty shouldn't be so ruff
But as the world turns I learned life is hell
Living in the world no different from a cell
Everyday I escape from Jakes givin chase, sellin base
Smokin bones in the staircase
Though I don't know why I chose to smoke sess
I guess that's the time when I'm not depressed
But I'm still depressed, and I ask what's it worth?
Ready to give up so I seek the Old Earth
Who explained working hard may help you maintain
to learn to overcome the heartaches and pain
We got stickup kids, corrupt cops, and crack rocks
and stray shots, all on the block that stays hot
Leave it up to me while I be living proof
To kick the truth to the young black youth
But shorty's running wild smokin sess drinkin beer
And ain't trying to hear what I'm kickin in his ear
Neglected, but now, but yo, it gots to be accepted
That what? That life is hectic
The Rebel INS!

RZA easy Bobby Digital tip top fav not so sure about some of his other stuff...Afro samuri for example

i prefered liquid swords over cuban links - even though raekwon is a beter MC than GZA. mind you, ghostface was on most of the tracks on cuban links anyway so who knows. ironman, supreme clientele, and fishscale were all ace albums. the track 'one' off supreme clientele is superb. the lyrics and rhyme schemes are just crazy!

"never in the target when the narcs hit"

i need to get bak into listening to hip-hop. been more into indie stuff recently since i learned the guitar and joined a band and all that, but hip-hop msic done properly can blow your mind!

i actually really like a lot of canibus' stuff too (i know thats a bit off topic but i just though id add it)

RZA is my favourite, as RZA in the old days.

He has done a lot of shite, but he's blatantly in charge on the best stuff

Shouldnt' have to choose tho cos they are all different:D

I went for Meth, simply because his voice is so adaptable, as good over an Sermon party joint with Redman as on a dark RZA soundscape trading rhymes with GZA.

Ultimately, I don't they'd have been the Wu without any of RZA, GZA, Ghost, Meth, Rae or ODB, who've all done excellent solo LPs too.

Says the twat of 'Billy Holliday' vs. 'Nina Simone' fame.

:D

i'm happy i made it onto the shortlist, but not so happy that i haven't got as many votes as i think i deserve

wiggy wiggy, i'm gettin' jiggy,
open up the door i got the keys to your city,
your lookin kindof pretty,
dance til ya drop, an' it dont stop, til it goes pop,
dance how you wanna dance,
Let's all get down while we got da chance
i've still got, 12 seconds on the clock thats mine
And I ain't gonna stop 'til the sun don't shine
Line after line
I flow like rhyme after rhyme
Just like time after time
