Who's starting an Open University course this Autumn?

oooh, I *still* can't decide... I'm just not sure if there's any point in doing UG courses... however, of course, it might be worth it just for the learning... and also best to find out what OU study is like at UG level rather than forking out thousands for PG level and then finding out it's not right, right?

i just registered to study full time at the OU this year. i'm doing level 3 children's literature and level 3 20th century literature. goodbye having any money  oh wait, i didn't have any money anyway!

yeah, probably quite a big jump into the deep end, having last studied four years ago, but at least it gives me an excuse to bum around for another year without getting a full time job.

I'm not certain what I'm going to do yet, I'm only signed up for this course. I'm looking forward to learning all the different stuff though.

How long did you find it took you each week? I finished the first weeks work in about 2 hours. Didn't put too much into the activities though.

I did it totally differently to how they suggested. Two weeks ignoring it altogether, a week of prepping and reading, and a week to bang the assignment out. Next course I'm going to follow the guidelines more - do everything, because it's all going to be useful to me. Probably two hours a day.

yes! sorry, it's just as we're both doing english lit (i think?) i was wondering at what pace you're doing it at

Ah, no, I'm just coming to the end of the General Arts (AA100) course, which I haven't thrown myself into, more just done enough to get through it. English Language & Literature will be my degree.

ah i see. i assume you're just doing that part time over a few years? i'm guessing we may have some crossover of a couple of modules

Yeah, I'm hopefully going to finish my degree about the same time as The Girl starts school (she's 17 months old). I had a choice of what to do next, starting Oct - I've gone for "Exploring the English Language" (U211) rather than U212 which was much more set texts and a lit-based one, simply because with the courses back-to-back this gives me less to have to prepare. I'll be doing the Literature module after this one - but I'll have 3 months to get my reading in, iyswim.

I've said this about every course I've done but always slip back into ignoring it for two weeks then flying through it really fast. :D

It's not the best approach though as you don't really take it in

I've signed up for some course on 'Human Biology'.. mainly on the basis that now I'm beginning to fall to bits I might as well find out what's happening. That and being made to do physics for O level - cause 'boys do physics, and girls do biology'. It will also help with Sundays.
