Who's read War and Peace?

I found War and Peace a good read - I don't recall ever being bored by it, certainly.

I was in hospital for 2 months in 2006 and I started reading War & Peace, I think I got about 30% of the way through but my heart just was not in it. Might have a go again at it some time but other book have caught my eye for the time being. Might like to try to read Hegel, in German, if I can get hold of any.

In fact in a discussion in here someone posted a link to Tolstoy's confessions which are online in english and I read that start to finish in one go. It was much more gripping than War & Peace, at least for me it was.

Might like to try to read Hegel, in German, if I can get hold of any.

Now thats just masochism. Hegel in english is enough of a headfuck.
Read the 'Phenomonology of Spirit'. Once is enough.

So what is the best translation of it? The one I've got is by Louise and Aylmer Maude.

Yes, I read it after watching it done as a TV series (70s?).
I must admit I skimmed through some of the 'war' parts though.

I do like Tolstoy, enjoyed reading Anna Karenina.
