Who's on your shopping shitlist?

I'm veggie so have no problem avoiding McD's, KFC and the like. I try and avoid Asda, and wouldn't buy Nike.

I don't buy anthing from Nestle or Esso.

Thank you Zenie i hate the bloody abbey national they have over £350 out of my bank in "charges" over the last 4 months!!

I bank with Abbey and got charged nearly £100 in charges last month, Im not great at remembering to check statements...in the end i could not be arsed pursuing it with them...not cos i have a load of cash just i felt it would be futile and put me in a even more enraged foul mood. I keep meaning to change..bit worried at the mo though..does changing banks affect your credit score . as your always asked...how long with present bank ?

I want to change from the Abbey national if i went with the co-op would i be able to do online banking JTG?? How do you find them???

I do everything online tbh. Rarely visit the branch at all.

Not sure re: charges etc 'cos I just about manage to get by by the skin of my teeth so never go over any limits. It does make me feel smug about how the money's being used even though it's still capitalism at the end of the day.

You can pay in money at post offices as well so the lack of branches compared to others doesn't impact that much on you.

Lidl and co - malnourishing the nation on a budget!
Still avoiding Gap... just because. Its clothes seem more interesting than they used to be, but I can't help but see it as the clothes shop for people who don't like clothes.

How are they malnourishing the nation - by selling cheap fruit & veg?
OK, may just be the Tottenham branch - saw little evidence of anything fresh there at all!

Veal
Corned beef (I just dont understand why there is any reason anyone would eat it)
Anything I know is battery farmed
Halifax
New look
River Island

Pretty much the same here.

Although I love KFC I know I shouldn't eat it :(

In an ideal world I would go shopping at local markets or have everything delivered direct from the supplier in a box scheme.

But with the funds allowing I do have to make compromises to my morals

don't feel too bad. there's others out here who feel exactly the same.

i'm trying to avoid bp and esso atm, but when it's the nearest service junction what can you do ? I'm glad i only do these long journies once in a blue moon.

:(

i try and avoid all fresh lidl items cos it always looks so rank. but there's other stuff there that's the bees knees. their juice is cheap. it's not fancy but there's some bits that serve the purpose. always forget that they don't "do" bags though and end up fighting over the one box that is left.

For moral reasons: Nestle, Nike and Esso

Simply because they're crap: Ford cars, Toys r Us, KwikSave fresh food, and Purdeys (the only energy drink to make me feel sleepy)

Tesco (because they're everywhere)
Sainsbury (because they think they're doing you a favour by reducing "sell-by today" items in price by between 20 - 50p and their service is crap)
Comet/Dixons/Currys/PC World (No one is fooled into thinking these are separate companies competing with each other. Time for them to stop pretending. Their staff are useless and in the case of Curry's they tried to rip me off).
Abbey National (What a shower of shite)
ntl (really fucking useless...where's the much promised 'red button' facility then?)
EDF (London's electricity provider has trouble managing the supply to my part of Hammersmith - we've had 3 power cuts this year; two in less than a fortnight).
National Rail Companies (for not allowing Pre-pay Oyster Cards to be used on their shitty trains)
McDonalds/KFC/Subway/Pizza Hut/Pizza Express/Pret a Manger et al(anyone for simulacra?)
Asda (Owned by the nasty WalMart...I detest their "Miles of smiles" badges and their other meaningless slogans)

There are loads but I've avoided them for so long I don't think about it much anymore.

Since we could afford to we only buy free range local meat.

But theres loadsa train companies that areworse, surely?

I'd boycott Connex and Silverlink on the basis of being truly awful, but living ap norf makes it abit of apointless exercise really

The one in East Ham is the same, nothing fresh in sight! Rows and rows of cheap fizzy drinks and a freezer cabinet with very cheap reconstituted meat products and oven chips. No fruit or veg at all.

Would you travel by coach or car in order to avoid them?
They have improved over the last year, Virgin trains, but at one stage they were so abysmal I went by coach to avoid them. 4 hours late back to London from Liverpool I was, because a train got stuck at Crewe, then they piled us on an already full one with no seats and dared to get arsey when people went to sit in first class without being told they could. Another time from Penryth about a year ago none of the loos were working. It's a long way to go without a pee.

But they do seem to have got their act together recently. Or i've just been lucky....?

But shopping at markets is cheaper. (and those organic boxes tend to work out cheaper than organic stuff from the supermarkets)

The newsagents round the corner. I try to support local shops, but he is a piss takeing wanker. Food overpriced and allways out of date. This morning I went to top up my gas card, and he told me it was minimum £10! Why? I wanted a tenners worth anyway, but told him to shove it and went to the petrol garage. :(

If there are worse then their passengers have my sympathies.

tbh Virgin have improved their Leeds-Oxford service a great deal (it vanished altogether last year) but travelling with kids is still a nightmare (I suspect this may be the case with any long distance route)

They have not put enough carriages on, the automated seat reservation thingie fails to work (go back to paper tickets!!) And there is hardly any luggage space at all.

Having spent seven hours getting from Ox-Leeds, two of them stationary - not able to move for people and suit cases with two kids (one a baby bawling it's eyes out) and not able to get to my reserved seats, I am unwilling to travel solo with kiddies again.

I daredn't take the two of them on me tod anymore which is a shame, when it was just me and no 1 son we went all over the place.

They only give 3 minutes/ 2 minutes for people to get on at stations. Maybe ok in small stations but when it's Leeds it's ridiculous.

Last time I travelled (thankfully alone) they changed platforms several times right at the last minute..making it impossible to get on the thing (this is probably Leeds station's fault) BUT you' d think they'd wait a few minutes longer so people could get from one platform to another - after all Leeds station is big. But no!

Cats

They (Caterpillar) may make ace shoes but they sell billions of pounds worth of machinery to the Israeli army.

When I mention this (me boycotting CAT), people generally just say "get a fucking life".

My most recent experiences have not been too bad. The Manchester London service seems better. I think that might be due to the track improvements rather than virgin. There is not enough luggage space on them new tilting trains.

No there isn't, and as someone else mentioned that seat booking system fails too often to be any use. Also, the pendolinos make me feel claustrophobic; they're so damn small. But they seem to leave on time, get there quicker than they once did and I quite like that leaning over stuff going round corners.

I've boycotted Amazon for some time now. I seem to be in the minority on that view but I ordered a CD which didn't turn up and they made out I was trying to pull a fast one. The cheek, it was only £7.99. Also Ebay for a similar reason.
