the Netherlands are just like Spain used to be - the betting mug's choice. I do like them though and hope they do it. They're a template for what england ought to be like.

With the likes of Reina, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Senna, Torres & Villa etc I can see Spain winning it.
Second favourites : Brazil
England have a great squad on paper but unlike Spain they haven't proved their worth against top opposition. Might get to the semi's along with Holland.
France/Italy : Don't see either coming close. Italy are ageing and France look shite under Domenech.
Argentina : Depends if Maradona is still in charge. If he is I don't think they'll do great.
Germany : They've got a hard group. Can see them slipping up!
Outsiders : One of the African Nations probably Ivory Coast

Since only seven teams have ever won it, it'd be nice if it wasn't Brazil, Italy, West Germany (unlikely), Argentina, Uruguay, England or France.
Does anyone know what happens in regard keeping the trophy? The 1970 Brazil team kept the Jules Rimet as the first team to win it three times. Now no team's won it three times since, but Argentina, Italy and Brazil all have two; if they win it next summer will they keep the current trophy? Likewise, would Germany, with West Germany having won it in 1974 and 1990?

I think the current trophy doesn't have any provisions regarding future ownership. IIRC, it might be given out after 2034 or 2038, once the placeholders for the winners at the bottom run out of space.
