Who Will You Vote For In The Euro's?

Who will you vote for?

No point in voting as far as I can see, as it's only to choose one bunch of professional shysters over another.

sum r worse that others tho. I'd rather be oppressively ruled over by the non-Hitlerite wing of the shysters.

Some are worse than others, but that's like saying that pus from a leaking wound is slightly less unpleasant to drink than farm slurry.

The fewer people who bother to take part in the charade of 'democracy' as it's presented to us, the less 'legitimacy' the current system has. Therefore I make a political decision, not an apathetic one, not to engage in a charade that I don't feel has any real legitimacy or genuine democracy to it.

The current system reminds me of a prison warden saying to a condemned man 'You can be shot or hanged. You'll still be dead, but at least you get to choose how.' It's an illusion of choice when, in reality, there is little to really choose between a bunch of careerist political hacks wearing different coloured rosettes, and when by far the majority of whom will soon forget any principles they might have had, sacificing them on the alter of such political buzzwords as 'realism', 'pragmatism' and 'political necessity. And that's assuming they aren't there just to get their piggy little noses in the money and power troughs and a nice seat on the political gravy train for a while.

To be fair, there's quite a selekshion on offer - social democrats, trots, stalinists, xenophobes, greens, tories, hitlerists, conservatives etc. Only for the Euro Parliament tho - has fook all power compared to the commission, the ECJ and council. It would be a fooking embarrassment to have that squinting Hitlerist cunt Griffin repping the UK though. :(

Probably Green (reluctantly) like last time, as, although they're wet liberals, they stand the best chance of getting someone to the left of Genghis Khan in.

I dislike spoiling my ballot paper, although I usually do it anyway, but since the Euro parliament is a pointless talking shop, I get to abstain with a clean conscience.

I think spoiling is more important than not bothering. If I see a funny or well written one at a count I make sure it is read out by the RO if I'm in a position to.

To be honest though the quality of spoilt ballots has gone down in recent years in my experience.

I always turn out (even for local concil elections) and I only spoil the ballot if I can support any of the listed candidates; and then out of protest of a lack of an official "none of the above" slogan. So I write the prosaic "abstain".

I'm sure there are plenty of witty messages to tide over the returning officers.

For the1st time in a decade I actually will vote - if i get my voting rights in time. For the Communists (Italy, see?).

if I was in the UK I'd vote Green.

I was torn between "Don't be bloody stupid, why would I want to vote for any of that shower?" and "Greens".

Went for Greens as I really feel that i have to at least turn up to vote and they seem like the least harmful over all, especially as they will not win.

*slightly ignorant disclaimer here*

I might vote for Turkey's entry, Hadise - Düm Tek Tek. It's quite a catchy tune. I like it. It's almost up there with Tarkan's Aya Shukadum Shukadum Dum (sp?)

And taffboy, on an unrelated note, did you receive and pass on an email to your missus about a film? And I'll probably be home in a couple of weeks, hope to catch up then. :)

Decent people not voting would help towards that scenario though i can understand their disillusionment

I don't even know who's standing here - i have had a Lib Dem and Greens leaflet. Nothing else. So if that (and the 2 Tory parties and the nazis) is the full scale of whats on offer it'll be the greens. The Liib Dem started off well...."we will scrap ID cards" but then it went on... "to pay for 10,000 officers on the beat"

I think I'll probably vote for the Greens. No2EU are on the road to nowhere and they have a really shit name to boot. Greens are actually in the race and offer the only credible way to take on the evil, repugnant and utterly foul BNP-UKIP-Tory axis of racial hatred and utter dispair. :)

Well, this has answered my questions about juryteam...

well it is bit of a distorted view of the juryteam, while yes the juryteam is funded by a millionaire, he don't get to choose the candidates, they are selected in what is termed "open primary" where you get people to txt vote for the candidates. Even John Swinburne and Esther Rantzen will have to be selected by txt if they choose to run in the by-elections with the support of the juryteam.

While it is not the most democratic, it is public and open. The main parties candidate selection processes are fairly closed processes, with the local party getting a vote and then the national party getting the final say (or something like that).

Anyone can apply, I did. and I am the second on the list for the Scotland region

Jury Team candidates have their own views and their own manifesto and they are not representative of other the Jury Team candidates. The Jury Team is the umbrella group for independents - each with their own policy positions.

Martin Bell has a great article about it http://www.totalpolitics.com/magazine_detail.php?id=407

I think you need to apologise b-boy.

I wish to let all members of this prestigious bulletin board know that I take full responsibility for the incorrect use of apostrophe's, and I have immediately sacked the person responsible.

I can only apologies for this appaling and egregious failure of proper punctuation and i will reimburse the treasury accordingly.
