Who were the most underachieving band of the 1990s?

Kerbdog released a great debut also.

Whatever happened to them???
Record company shafted them. Cormac Battle went to sign on the dole in Dublin and got asked if he had any debts. "1 million pounds" he replied. He formed a band called Wilt who are ok and djs on Irish radio now.

I hate that too.
Their new one is a fucking joke - can we agree on that?

well, given that i can't bring myself to listen to it, the correct answer is no, but the implied answer is yes!

Come to think of it, I don't actually know any songs, but I saw them live once and it was fun, mainly cos the crowd were there for a good time I think.

Therapy. After two fantastic mini albums and many demented live sets in the toilets of Ireland, they decided to go silly.

The flaw in your argument is that Troublegum was immense. One of the most rocking albums ever.

heh - I've just gone and bidded for both of Cecil's ablums on Ebay now (got a couple of singles already) - should only be a quid or so each I reckon

btb I went to see them once @ the barfly in about 98/99 when they'd reformed as 'Voy' - they did *not* appreciate being asked to play 'my neck' :D

Kula Shaker - one great album followed by a load of toss.

Finlay Quaye - one great album followed by a load of toss.

A mate of mine was vying to manage him at one point - it turned out that Finlay was a little too keen on partying for my mate not to take fright.

one band i would like to say are TLC, started off as an ok pop band, but they were really developing with that album they did (waterfalls, red light etc) just before they went bankrupt and shit

the comeback stuff was alreet, but you can tell they weren't as good as they could have been if they hadn't fucked up the 3rd album so much

spose wu tang as well, they did really well, but they got so distracted with their own labels etc, still makes me wonder what could have been if they spend so much time helping out their cousins and mates, and mates cousins etc

This thread has inspired me to take a look at my CD pile.

I just found my transister album. Dunno what happened to them.

I was always suprised that electracy never really did anything. Also janus stark should have been huge. Silly recored companies.

I've never heard of the rapper.

Stone Roses - defo could of done more, but hardly huge underacheivers. For all the brilliant stuff they did, they always a little hit and miss and they could've been absolutely huge, but they were big enough anyway.

Bayblyon Zoo - sorry they were overacheivers. They had one good song and that was only good because soemone else had remixed it!

For me it's the Smoking Popes - always produced great songs, it's inexplicable to me how they seemed to of never seemed to make much of an impression on the public conciousness.

leftfield, they did 'open up' with john lydon. Pure class. Alot of people rate them for things I haven't heard. Were they as big as they were ever going to get?

I don't think they 'needed' to get any bigger - they must be rolling in it - nearly every tune from Leftism has been used consistently in adverts for the past 10 years.

Agreed, for me Babylon zoo should go down as the biggest con artists ever. That bit in the advert sounded like a cracking bit of old-school prodigy style proto rave. The actual song was stodgy rock crud.
