funnily enough, the Goth who lived next door to me when I was at Poly played Pink Floyd's The Wall every bleeding day.

The only time he didn;t make a snide comment about what I played was when I put the Dead Kennedys on one day.

If the Banshees can be considered to have been goths as early as '79, so can The Stranglers - ladies and gennerman, I give to you 'The Raven' and 'The Meninblack'.

Intostella article is pretty much how I remembered it. Obviously written by someone who was there at the time.

Remember reading the NME article on positive punk and thinking so that's what were called and pissing ourselves.

Please note < wind up mode > that early Sisters of mercy looked like a bunch of indie saddos.

Pretty Goth early on also were GLJ ( you knows it )

The fALL because of the songs 'A Figure Walks', 'Spectre vs Rector' and 'Before The Moon Falls' from 1979

Now that's bullshit and I know it

And 'Psykick Dancehall', 'Muzorewi's Daughter' and 'Various Times'...good call if we're just talking sonics. :)

Plus of course just about everything Joy Division ever recorded...ah, Manchester, so much to answer for.
