who was the hardest band ever???????

I think the point about the rat pack isn't that they were hard (and they weren't a band either, but...) It's that they had fucking scary friends in all kinds of high places.

When I saw Tiger Army in Newport, Nick 13 (the singer) and the bassist jumped off stage mid-song, belted someone in the crowd and returned to where they'd left off.

I heard tell of a story about Motley Crue laying the smackdown on Metallica once. But I don't know how hard that would make them as both bands may be soft as shite in the overall rank of things.

On the subject of Tiger Army, their former drummer, Fred Hell left the band because he was shot during a robbery at a friend's apartment... 4 times in the chest, back and head. And he survived...

They'll 'ave you up clart!:mad::cool:

Wouldn't have been keen to mix it with Shepherds Bush's finest scaffolder Mr R. Daltery, nor that nutter Moon. Then there's the Ox who turned out to be a brick outhouse. Not sure about Townsend, though.

Can't see past them, really.

Dunno about hip-hop, so many are from tasty 'hoods.

The Who were handy, Daltry particularly. He used to beat the rest of 'em up on his own, and it got so bad they threatened to kick him out unless he stopped doing it. So he stopped. I still wouldn't mess with big Roger now, and he must be 60-odd.

'scuse my ignorance but isn't Rollins just a big lump? The way I heard it when he was a youngster he and his mate were little weedy indie-pop boys, and they got the shit kicked out of them by some cunts and his mate died, so Henry decided to beef-up to protect himself. So is he just a big cunt or did he learn a martial art to boot?

Could be bollocks some fellow told me the tale years back.

Ahh, you got there just before me old bean.

Mark E Smith's a tough fella apparently...made of much sterner stuff than he looks in photos. He's had the whole of his (many different) band(s) with one hand in the past - I've seen it with my bare eyes too!

And get that new album title, 'Fall Heads Roll' - it's no whimsical quip.

yeah, that Rollins tale is apparently true if memory serves me correctly.. dunno how hard he is tho'

Now give Ted Nugent a gun and well..

or arm Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden with a sword...

well 'ard!

I reckon the hardest of 'em all though is boy george..

I mean he survived the 80's looking like he did..

mind you Limahl was a close second..

musta been hard...

that has one or two almost truths amongst a lot of utter nonsense.. :)

rollins was into bodybuilding etc from the mid-80s or so (it was his way of working off his anger and depression resulting from child abuse etc). He and his best friend and flatmate Joe Cole were jacked at gunpoint in the early 90s (92?) and Cole was shot in the back of the head on the frontporch.

the two points aren't related.

there are not many bands that could field strip an AK-47 in under a couple of minutes and have fought in a war, so i would say Tinariwen.

Them or that reggae singer from the 70's/early 80's who kept on robbing post offices with sawn off shot guns when he came to tour in england (or was it when he just came to england)! cant remember his name at the moment though..

I don't reckon he would have been that handy in a fight. Scary fucker but he was a stump cocked little dwarf at the end of the day. I remember finally tracking down a film of him playing live a few years ago and I'd never seen a grown man with such a tiny cock in my life.

'Sleeping in my Piss' is a  tune though.

it's the Edgar Broughton Band of course
they got banned from the uni i went to for handing out acid at a show, getting everybody tripping then handing out white paint with brushes and encouraging the whole audience to repaint the union ballroom.
Out Demons Out indeed.
Heady times. but then we only had 3 channels of telly in those days. Had to make our own entertainment.

the hardest band has to be So Solid Crew, dunnit? Half of them are inside for murder already arent they?

Being an unhip old git i used to think their posters said "So Squid Crew"

Not a band but hard as nails and a bit surprising IMO .. John Martin
Another solo artiste ! .. that knows how to row is Jimmy Nail
Finally a solo artiste who once offered out someone because he dissed Jesus .. seriously .. Cliff Richard .. no blows were exchanged thankfully .. 'you're very lucky sonny' he said .. 'these feet are deadly weapons'
Beki Bondage when she went solo
Bono is a hard fucker as is Robby Williams .. how annoying is that ? :D
There is no such thing as a hard musical group IMO
