Definitely Basil Rathbone. Even though he said 'elementary my dear Watson' all the time, which Sherlock never said in the books. I guess that's where it came from... Sherlock was never up his own arse in the slightest, unlike Jeremy Brett who lives there.

I've worked with a singer who is Basil's great-neice! Beat that.

Does anyone remember a series of childrens books based on Sherlock holmes books but replacing Sherlock holmes with a blood hound, and watson being a white scotty dog?? They were great
