jeremy brett?

Woooo, Basil Rathbone :) Has anyone noticed that a very young handsome Jeremy Brett plays Freddy in the movie of My Fair Lady?

rathbone really,

i watched a rerun of the Jeremy Brett Holmes recently and although I loved it at the time, look at it now it's clear he was hamming it up rotten...

also saw a Rathbone one recently, tbh he was a bit Eailing but no where near as ham...

Oh come on! Jeremy Brett's dark, camp and drug-addled depiction of Sherlock Holmes was the best EVER by a mile!

He RuL3D!

Mushroom, mushroom....?

Have any of you ever actually READ the stories? I have. About the only thing I have ever read (apart from "Spot The Dog").

I really rate Clive Merrison who is in the BBC Radio 4 Sherlock Holmes plays with Andrew Sachs as Watson.....

Well it used to be Clive Merrison and Watson playede by Michael Williams (as in husband of Judi Dench) till MW died young :( Andrew Sachs is equally good, but very different......not different in the way you suggest though Allan :D

I voted for Jeremy Brett because it was one of the few english tv programmes available for hire at my local Blockbuster video when I lived in Japan. For some reason they had the whole series.

I thought he did the pompous gay junkie thing perfectly.

I voted 'other ' and nominate Mr Michael Caine for 'Without A Clue' - I think that's the title.

Watched it again the other day - brilliant , a total piss take of Sherlock

it's got to be Razzle Bathrobe, no question. quintessential holmes.

although Wild Billy Childish is also a contender

So who was it that played Sherlock to Nigel Stock's Watson?
I can't remember.....Nigel Stock was excellent though, I remember that....

Brett was the best cos he caught the spirit of the early decadent Holmes perfectly. But Christopher Plummer was pretty good in Murder By Decree.

J Brett for me ta very muchly.. you can now buy the whole sherlock holmes series on dvd for about £100  which is a shame cos i really like it.

Does anyone remember a series of childrens books based on Sherlock holmes books but replacing Sherlock holmes with a blood hound, and watson being a white scotty dog?? :) They were great :D
