who still remembers (or uses) windows 3.11?

I was a regular user of GEM, Amiga Workbench and Mac OS before encountering windows. The PCs at my school were all kitted out with 3.11. Happy times :D

Used 3.11 until 1999 I think, and that was with a big American bank. The changeover to 95 was pretty traumatic.

I also remember Xtree and WordPerfect with some affection, WordPerfect 7 did everything you genuinely needed. Just as Word killed WordPerfect, I was working with Paradox until Access (unbelievably) killed that too.

In it's day, 3.11 seemed absolutely marvellous. Unless you'd ever used a Mac of course.

i remember 3.1 so there.

Fuck it i remember using dos and then getting excited about a programme called x-tree(i think) which kinda sorta had a gui.

somehow i doubt if you have, or Desqview, or the old two letter Norton Utilities, like FF. But old habits die hard, there are still occasions that i use a wee text editor called Zedit, which is still configured with Wordstar commands- Ctrl Y to delete a line, Ctrl U to delete a word and so on.

anyone else here use norton desktop for windows?

dosshell anyone and the qbasic game with the gorilla?

I also remember using PCDOS and MSDOS 5. and being a beta tester for win95

if i could get the drivers I bet win3.1 would fucking fly on my machine today

I used it at a gig I had in 98. Couldn't save docs with names, had to write down it's the number in a notebook attached to the monitor with a piece of string :D
