Who started an OU course in October?

Second TMA due tomorrow :(

Works been mental so not had the chance to revise as planned, anyone an expert on earthquakes and subduction zones :hmm:

Lol, this is me the night before every TMA and I always say I won't do it again. I could get pretty good marks blagging it at level 1 but I don't think it will work at level 2. I'm waiting for my TMA 01 to be marked and I'm not very positive.

Get a coffee, switch the telly off and knuckle down. Do a rough plan, find a few quotes and then get writing. You'll be fine. :)

ETA- I got my mark for TMA01 and I got 68% which I know is well below what I am capable of. However, the essay was written in a few hours with very little preperation and contained minimal theory so I'm quite pleased but I'm also very annoyed with myself because if I put the work in I'd be getting 80+.

Ive been told to expect a drop in grades due to moving from level 1 to2. If i get 68% for the essay i just submitted i will be well chuffed.,, mmm but would I really? Knowing me it would probably be a case of "well if id done this or that id have got 70+" There's no pleasing some of us.

god...this thread takes me back. i did sociology with the OU and then went to Uni and did a degree full time...I have just applied to become an OU tutor :)

That's what I'm always like especially at the moment when I know I'm not putting the time and effort in which is stupid because I'm paying nearly £90 a month for this.

Looks like im well chuffed then :D I worry though 'cos I think the day i write an essay im happy with will be the day Ive done it all wrong.

Ooh an OU thread! Don't know how I missed this one - I just started a 30 point Level 3 course beginning of this month - Investigating Entrepreneurial Opportunities - really interesting so far and no exam element, which pleases me - just TMA assessment.

:mad:I've started loads  glad you're enjoying :D

well done whoha... mines not back yet :( if i don't get 68% i'm gonna die of shame now :(

Its not about percentages though really is it? Its about improving on what you've done before.

I wouldnt normally have said what score id got because, well its not really relevant to anybody else is it? Its just the fact i kind of got what i'd wished for.
Just for the record I,ll be well chuffed with 80+ next time ;)

You're right of course - when I started my first course I didn't care about percentages - I just wanted to pass - if I get a ok pass on this first assignment I'll be happy :)

Well done lighterthief. Its a great boost to your self esteem when you've done better than you expect isn't it? I just submitted another yesterday. Wish Id put a little more effort into it though instead of waiting untill the last minute and then just doing enough . I could do better Im sure!! but then thats the story of my life.

I just love the o/u. Have you tried any of their summer schools, they r brilliant!!

If you r sick they get you full time carers, every poss help u need.
They even have a course where your summerschool is staying IN a mountain top telescope using the equipment (geophysics) what a fantastic opportunity that I still sometimes phantasise about doing:)
Last year or the year before I did my labs at Brighton, Sussex Uni. Loved every moment of it.:):)
Tho the work does get harder, if you r into the subject, I got a lot more out of it than I put in. My paper has to be in by 28th Jan, but will be my last, if I get it in at all. which I prolly won't but I am not giving up yet, who knows maybe I will be cured...sure wish Ild done that summer school tho.Good luck to all those felloww students out there:)

Anyone else still plugging away at an OU course? How's it going?

I'm about halfway through I guess, two assigments down, two to go. Feels like I'm making progress though, which is good.

Same with me - 2 down - it is far more difficult then the level 1 I did last year - but I'm enjoying it nevertheless:)

I've just got my best ever assignment score - better then any I did on my level one course - I am so pleased - celebration time :D

Nice one RubyBlue

I just got an unexpectedly high score too, so am also feeling pleased! Nice feeling when the work pays off

On the other hand, I've let my reading run away from me a wee bit and am going to have an absolutely manic next two weeks squeezing it all in :hmm:

:mad::( Argh ive just spent hours and hours writing a load of crap. I read the statistics wrong. Every time i look at them my head goes funny..

Can anybody remind me why I want a degree.

I want to cry :(

awww :( at least you noticed that you did it wrong!

i'm a week in to my course and i'm bored already! i just know we're gonna have a cracking summer and i'm going to be stuck at my desk churning out essays.

good for you :) well done!

i can't seem to get motivated. i haven't done much reading and i have an essay due in next week :(

I'm due to start my OU course this month. It's a openings course 'Beginning With Law' My course materials are not with me yet, I was expecting them in Feb and today I rang up the helpline and I was told they were sent out to me via DHL a few weeks ago. However I were'nt in and they did'nt put a card thru to tell me they had been so it all got returned back to them.
They are re-sending out all the stuff tomorrow so hopefully by next week I should be all set:cool:

got my best mark ever :D

That's a bastard thing to happen at the beginning of your course - they use DHL and I've had some crap experiences waiting for OU deliveries - I now have my books delivered to me at work.
