Spurs 'cos they won the FA Cup while still a non-league side , the first team to do the double in the 20th century, the first British team to have 'the vision' to sign BIG name exotic foreigners (Ardiles & Villa in 1978) and although Newcastle had a good spell in the 50's everything Spurs have done since then (in the last 47 years) has out performed Newcastle.

It would take a severe jump of logic to claim that that makes Newcastle more successful.
They've won one Fairs Cup and us one Cup Winners Cup.
They threw away a 10 point lead, we came within a whisker of winning the title in 86...

One Carling cup

In the last 10 years newcastle have finished 3 a couple of times, fourth a couple of times and 5th a couple of times. HAd decent runs in the champions league. been to a couple of UEFA cup semi finals and a couple of FA cup finals

A lot of fans under 30 expect us to do a lot better than we have done in the last 5 years or so because we grew up watching us compete for the league and so on, but it's only the drunken chavas who say we're the best team in the world and stuff

Yes, Spurs have a bloody good cup record. But for a club with ambitions to be considered amongst the best, just 2 league titles in entire history isn't that amazing...
