Skunk Anansie (pot noodle punk, just add water)
I have an award I'd like to present you with mr northernhoard - it's for the wrongest statement i've read so far on this thread :p

My choices have been covered mostly...Carey, Morrisey, Bob shitey Dylan, Beatles, Smiths

Anyone mention Bruce bastard Springsteen yet? Talk about craws and sticking arrghhufff (me choking on my own vomit)

Dylan and the Smiths are shite, but Skunk Anansie are good?

:D :D

No, northern is entirely right. Skunk Anansie were fucking dreadful. A wailing bint backed by a band assembled by committee (this is a fact, they were put together by A&R men to back Skin, and chosen for how 'edgy' they looked apparently).
Bollocks with a side-order of really fucking shite.

Are you completely fucking insane? Despite your vast musical knowledge and usually good taste, you're quite obviously deluded on this issue. You mean you don't get goosebumps the second you hear Skin's soaring howling roar and a wobble in your kidneys when the drums kick in??!!

Ah, the drummer. 4th choice, i believe, after a bunch of other drummers turned the job down. Perhaps because the thought of spending time on the tourbus with that talentless, whining, helium-voiced, 'look at me, i'm wadical' twat Skin put them right off the idea..

Hehe - when she was just starting to get into it all and borrowing my Hole and quotsa cds, I said, 'why don't you listen to these Skunk Anansie albums as well, I think you might like them', and she turned round and went 'err no thanks mum, they were the soundtrack to my childhood, I've heard enough of them' :D

That's a no then?

For starters:- Flaming lips, anything 'new rave', fidi cent, dirty pretty things, razorlight, kooks (in fact almost any band whose cocks are well and truely on the tonsils of NME jounos and that fucking robbie williams shit-cunt.

I'm with Dub and northern. The always struck me as a fraud. Bloody awful racket they made as well.

Threads like this tend to encourage a "look at me, I'm so radical and iconoclastic" tendency.

Fair comment ... I was kind of thinking about starting a thread; can't decide on the title though, either

- Is personal self-worth and popularity increasingly defined through identity with commercial musical styles?

or

- DJs - crap/not crap?

Lee Scratch Perry

I'm sure he must have done some decent stuff as he's given a lot of respect but I brought a best of box set thing awhile back and I've never been so disappointed with a musical purchase. :(

people who don't like the smiths and morrissey smell of wee. it's a milesy fact :)

complete cunts, with the exception of Mr Marr who should have known better

Morrisey though, what a sweaty codpiece, so up himself and so inconsequential :p

They're the ones with the really affected sounding singer, innit?

"Oiiiiii know, that she knows..."

Fuck off, you sad, feckless indie twat.

Indeed. There just an indie busted.

E2A:- The Missus loves em. :(

Also the Charlatans.

I brought their best of album. When I listened to them, they were pleasant enough. However, no matter how many repeated listenings I did, and I did a lot, I found their tunes utterly and totally unmemorable. Dull and very bland.

The drummer in Skunk Anansi was good. He still is good even though he unfortunately plays with Feeder now. He's been a good drummer for years. I'll not have a bad word said about him. He's from Scarborough. I used to go drinking with him years ago. He's a good lad is Mark.

He was in Little Angels. He wasn't the first drummer though. They got rid of Dave the original one because he was 'too old' He was a nice fella too...

I don't remember him being called Thug though  although Little Angels used to be called Mr Thrud before they were famous. Saw them quite a few times playing the various toilets of Scarborough back in the day. The keyboard player used to have his keyboard on an ironing board :D Think i've got an old Mr Thrud tshirt kicking about in the bottom of a drawer somewhere. I always thought they were better then, before they changed their name and hit the big time.
