I am just rubbish!! Now not leaving till Sat:rolleyes: But I have done everything!! and I just have to go. I must learn to organised quicker!!

If anyone is still around Im gonna be at the pussy parlor for 11ish on Sat night!!

Well I was a total lightweight, arriving at about 4pm on Sat and leaving at 10am on Sun (today) I couldn't tek the mud , not in my sandals (left a wellie at home by accident) and my bed was well uncomfortable, how ever I had a wicked time and bumped in to quite a few people.

Dreadzone were excellent, saw a bit of New Model Army and am sad to have missed BoneyM:o But on the up side I only spent £7.50 -on a flashing gum shield which I lost to later find wedged and still flashing in my cleavage;) and a crepe!!

It wasn't that bad all the time ;)

Was nice on Friday, and not too bad (though pretty chilly) on Sunday. Saturday was minging though, and we had the heaviest rain of all this morning, got thoroughly soaked walking to the station -- managed to catch the 10:33 from Feniton with 4 minutes to spare, sparing myself a 2 hour wait til the next one. Getting soaked was (almost) worth that.

Highlights : Afro Celts, Dreadzone, Back to the Planet (again), Hobo Jones (again), 3 Daft Monkeys (about the hardest working band currently on the festie circuit and they are BRILLIANT), RDF, Boney M for Rivers of Babylon only -- a truly great song, and their session musicians, especially the bassist, was superb, but the rest of their set was embarassing kitsch for me I'm afraid).

Personally, and I know they don't do it for many, I also loved Easy Star All Stars -- I'd never heard the RadioDread stuff before, seemed to work enough for me to buy the album from my mates' Mezzanine Dream stall (best festie hosts of a hippy chill out zone, and later a party zone, ever -- very hospitable during the muddy times especially).

Also loved Subgiant even though the Dance Tent lacked enough soundpower.

Great to have so many people around that I knew, particularly the lovely Flip and Mrs Flip from efests and also from there, the 5co77ie family who accommodated me so nicely on Thursday night and arranged me a lift to the festie.

Great to see red3k again (and grooving to BTTP along with all the rest of the Dread Collective!) but sad to miss kali.

Rbubish, you are truly Rbubish, hardly saw you -- hope to before long though :)

Oh by the way I missed half the Levellers set and caught the second half from the hilltop campsite ... :p

Great fireworks last night
And even in the mud, it's a beautiful site!

Hats off as well to Otter Brewery for supplying enough beer to satisfy even our thirsty needs ....

No significant criticisms ... there were several shit bands, but I just walked away from those ...missing my chance to see Bill Bailey because there was an exact clash with BTTP was a bit annoying, but whateva!)

I take it the police presence was a little more proportionate this year?
I've heard no stories of dipping for red, pnc checks or searches like last year.... which put my mates off ever going again.

Waved straight on site by smiling policemen...
Only saw a token presence inside the festival
Never saw even the slightest hint of trouble over the entire 4 days on the site

Bit like Reading I suppose :)

You wouldn't expect any trouble anyway... which makes their presence even more pointless :)

I'd forgotten about this aspect

They were checking some cars on the way into the carpark, with a couple of Devon and Cornwall's finest standing theatrically near the 'search pound' with rubber gloves on!!! But most cars and vehicles were waved through, not as many seemed to be being checked as last year, and I suspect the sample searches -- not that many vehicles, I don't think?? -- were mainly for show. No idea how thorough, a car was pulled 4 before ours went in so we never got to find out ...

A few more PCs on site than you'd want at a festival, but they seemed to be turning a blind eye to spliff smoking, mostly. Including the PC and WPC who who walked through our group's gazebo from behind me, late on Sunday night, while I was sitting by myself with a joint!

But they just said hello! :p

Local rumour is that East Devon District Council are at least as hot on 'law and order' and festival distrust, as are the Police themselves. The whole event would never, I reckon, have been licenced had not
[a ]The Levellers employed a very good organising team
[b ] The owners of Escot shown such strong support in favour of the fest.

On bad restriction is the early closure of the Dance Tent and the poor volume levels inside it. This tent's movement further downhill this year is also related to the noise factor I suspect -- atop the hill as last year, the volume carried further.

The police prescence was pretty small I thought. I saw a couple chatting to a couple of coppers on the path to the family area openly smoking a spliff whilst chatting to them.
It was wet, but still a laugh. Managed tto blag myself a backstage wristband which meant a could sit down in the bar back there. Thought Gogol Bordello were excellent (old news I know but never seen them before), other high lights were Dub Pistols, Devotchka (superb never heard them before, bit like an eastern Arcade Fire), Electric Soft Parade, Babyhead, Dreadzone, The Damned and Bill Bailey was just what you needed on a wet Sunday.
Agree about the dance tent being too quiet but the Bimble tent was a good find, still rocking till 5am Fri and Sat nights. I managed to blag a backstage wristband so could sit down in the bar back there, which also had decent lager and draft Guiness, my main gripe about the bars out front. Nice if you liked real ale and cider but nothing for us philistines.
Btw is there also a picture of Dubversion in the prog on the Pusssy Palure page?

I enjoyed that :cool::)
Sorry I missed you Kali - didn't know it was your birthday either!
Had a prime camping position with main stage in view, for those lazy moments :)

(will look for Stig in the programme when I get home)

I'm not going. But apparently I am on the program. Fame at last

I saw the proofs of the programme a few weeks ago and thought it was you on the back page, but i wasn't totally sure as it's the back of your head :D

I had quite a few pics in the programme, but i didn't do the one of you. I should have let you know once i realised it was you, but i thought it would be a nice surprise.

Just got back. Stayed with some mates in Exeter last night as i was in no fit state to drive back due to copious amounts of Black Rat all weekend. Had an absolutely brilliant time despite the weather. Saw so many great bands- RDF, Planets, Afro Celts, Dreadzone, Banco De Gaia and Whirl Y Gig, Bellowhead (and the muddy kids) De Votch Ka (spelt wrong probably!), Flipron, Gogol Bordello and loads and loads more.

In fact it would be easier to list the ones i didn't like!!!! Surprisingly it was just the Easy Star All Stars, who i thought i'd like, but i think they would have been better suited for lazing in the sun...

Sorry we missed you Kali. Hope you had a great birthday

Finally met Tort. Loved the hair and the outfit btw!

Bimble Inn was great as usual...

Think i saw Cptain Rbubish (sp?), but i wasn't sure. Still wanted to say a big thank you for the gift at Glasto, so if your reading this....Thanks!

Was nearly moved to tears by RDF doing Hungerford Poem, but that could have been the cider or that i'm a saddo fangirl! Saw a couple of them later and they said Chris had done it because it was the 20th anniversary to the day of the Hungerford massacre.

Back to the Planet were fab. It was such a shame that that had a small audience because of Bill Bailey, but we managed to raise huge cheers between us and they came back for an encore. Some random person afterwards said they felt like they were coming up on a pill it was so good.

Met the bubble man (who gave me bubbles) and the mole man during the Planets set and had a great time. Saw the mole man again on Monday and hung out for about an hour in the rain. He was lovely. He was the man with the strange ornament made of moles btw!!!

Will sort out some pics and post a link in a couple of days, but not sure how any turned out through a haze of cider. Wasn't really working for a change, so did more drinking than running around from stage to stage snapping...

Me, Rocketman and Cyberfairy have ended up on the Boney M kareoke video on Virtual Festivals :D Nice to see that William did actually check them out. He asked me if i was going to watch them in an ironic way and looked unimpressed when i said they would probably be great, which they were ;) :p

Thought that was funny, but it was too late to change the pic when i did eventually realise that PROD wouldn't be there :D

Here's my photos

Had a great time with lots of wonderful people. Sorry to have missed Biddly Bee & Rubbish. My fault for stupidly going to the wrong stage.

Won't repeat what I thought about the whole weekend cos it's all in the blog via the link above but it was :D :D :D
