Who have you seen live who has since passed away?

Johnny Cash (Glasto 94)
Joe Strummer (Glasto 2000 and Cambridge Folk Festival 2002)

Struggling for any others ...

I think?? Fela Kuti may have been at Glasto 1984 ... but I'm far from sure about it ..

Stirling Morrison (Velvet Underground)

If he played Glastonbury in with them 1993, I'll add him to my list. Mind you, I was seriously spangled at the time! :D

Ibrahim Ferrer
Kurt Cobain
Joe Strummer
Sterling Morrison
Michael Hutchence
Kirsty MacColl
John Entwistle
Johnny Thunders
Stiv Bators
Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee
Razzle (of Hanoi Rocks)

Zac Foley (of EMF)
Jeff Buckley
Rob Collins
Jimmy Fernandez (of God Machine)
Arthur "Killer" Kane
Kristen Pfaff (of Hole)
Andy Crighton (of Snuff)

too too many...
:(

God Machine were a fucking great band. I used to know Jimmy (and Yank) really well.

If we're going to get into waaay too close for comfort ones (from Camden in the 90s) there's also Rob from Altamont Speedway.

Still - as the guy at the end of Bladerunner says "It's a pity she won't live. But then, who does?". Well all these guys lived, particularly Yank. Fuckinell. Yank over-lived.

Inevitably I have to be here.
Jimi Hendrix
Kurt Cobain
Keith Relf [who? they ask]
George Best
Steve Marriot [a mate]
Keith Moon & John Entwistle
Ronnie Lane
Ian Dury
Buddy Rich
Ronnie Scott
The Bloke from the Doors

but... I miss you Kirsty.
Who drank pints with the lads? -You did!

Marc Bolan
Joe Strummer
Sid Vicious
Bob Marley
Ian Dury
Dennis Brown
3 x Ramones

I think theres more, cant remember!

On starting this thread, I'd have said Phill Lynott & Nico but by now, I'm reminded of quite a few others as well. :(

actually no one -

should have seen kurt cobain at reading 92, but i was cold wet and hungry so i stayed in my tent.

also should have seen lush on the bottom of the bill supporting the cure at crystal palace in 91, but we were late.

i've gone into detail to make up for the lack of real answers.

Depends how old you are...

Marc Bolan
Ronnie Lane (on the same night at Leeds Uni Union)
John Lee Hooker
Sandy Denny
John Entwistle & Keith Moon
Mick Ronson
Alex Harvey (I care more about him than all the rest put together)

and actually I saw all of them at Leeds between 69 -74 - them were me student days :)

edited to add Paul Kossoff - I used to adore him :(

I've got so many I can't do a list :(

My record for one gig is four people - Alex Harvey, Keith Moon, John Entwistle and Lowell George (of Little Feat), all on the the same day in 1976.

Also Lynryd Skynryd - two guitarists, the singer and the bassist are all dead now from the lineup I saw in 1975 or so.

I can't even do the sums on the Temptations, have seen several different lineups and there's been numerous fatalities.

Marc Bolan, Mickey Finn and Steve Currie of T.Rex at the same gig in 1972.

Johnny, Joey and Dee Dee Ramone all at the same gig also in 1977.

Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan of the Heartbreakers.

Bob Marley and Carlton Barrett from the Wailers.

Other memorable ones were Mick Ronson, Steve Marriott, Phil Lynott, Ronnie Lane, Rory Gallagher, Robbie McIntosh, Lee Brilleaux, Ian Dury, Joe Strummer. I'm sure there are loads more.

But mysteriously Keith Richards and Iggy Pop live on. And Shane McGowan's hanging on in there too . . .

Freddie Mercury
Phil Lynott
Ian Dury
Dennis Brown
Joe Strummer
Ramones x3
Stiv Bator
Ian Curtis
Peter Tosh
Johnny Thunders
Garnett Silk

probably more if I think hard about it :(

My memory is that bad that I couldn't think of any then I read the thread:

Joe Strummer
Ian Dury
Michael Hutchence
Most of the Ramones
Pete De Freitas (Bunnymen)
Rob Jones (Wonder Stuff)
Charlatans Keyboard player - Rob Collins?
Bloke from Lush
Tony De Vit (DJ)

Had tickets for Nirvana but the gig was cancelled because KC 'left'.

RIP all.

Not dead, though he has a long term chronic illness which he hasn't disclosed the details on. Don't think he's in a coma though unless it's a recent one.
