You could do it for less than £50 return on the train if you booked now (or probably next few weeks).
That's cheaper than flying on those dates, when you factor in airport transfers.

Not comparing like with like. That'll be a full aeroplane done per passenger as compared with a single-occupancy car. If there are two of you in the car then it will be half as much per passenger as the plane. With a full car, it'll be comparable to the train -- maybe even less.I'm surprised driving and flying are as comparable in terms of CO2 as that.
Found it for 45 quid all in on easyjet. Gotta factor in 30 quid stansted express though...how reliable/comfortable are the trains? I'm not anti train by any means - definitely my preference, in fact, but I don't wanna be on some 20 hour nightmare trip.
It's 3 hours on the train from king's cross. Usually reliable, check for engineering works.
The trains are as comfortable as planes and you can log onto urban from your laptop.
I hope you die in an air crash.
Yes. If you want to boil it all down to the bare bones, yeah. But I wouldn't do it myself, I'm hiring a big Greek bloke to do it for me. As per.
ThisCan you really be arsed with going through an air port just for this short journey and all the hastle this involves?

You seriously reckon it'll be longer by air, yeah? I genuinely hadn't considered weighing them up, I just presumed by air would be cheaper and less of a hassle. I suppose with the need to check in stupid early that counts against air...I just reeeeeeeeeally wanna avoid huge delays etc.

Ta, do you know the train company?

Anyway, the real answer to the question, 'who flies London to Newcastle' is 'yuppies' and 'businessmen'
More and more I find that when I have a journey it's not about how long it takes but how I can pass the time. It's not often you get a few hours to spend just chilling out, reading, chatting, playing games - whatever. I find flying very cramped and generally unpleasant - to be avoid at all costs.
In my mind to be only concerned about the speed of a journey misses the point of travel.
