Who do you think you are?

onenameshelley

is Major Morgan's bitch
Did anyone else watch this last night?

I really enjoyed it, i found it really moving watching Paxman who had been quite uninterested in the whole project sort of crumble. I like the fact that he seemed to realise that his ancestors went through utter hell to get where they did in order for him to get the priviledged upbringing that he received. Watching him get all teary about his great grandmother and the trails that she went through to bring her kids up into the world was great tv. It was again a good start to a enjoyable series.

I saw it. Very interesting to see Paxman being so humble. And a quarter Scottish. You can't help but like the arrogant so and so.

I must admit I thought it was really good, much the same reasons as you shells.

The part where he was looking at the death certificate for his Great-grandmother on his dad's side was quite moving, the way he muttered "TB - and exhaustion", then almost under his breath "we have it so easy". Really conveyed his sense of how unutterably fucking hard her life had been - made me think long and hard about how lucky I am too.

Great t.v. - and I absolutley hate most of it.

thought he was a bit over the top with some of the 'what a ridiculous question' comments to the interviewer. most of the questions seemed perfectly reasonably under the circumstances

Yeah that had me in floods of snotty tears at that point :o . My nanna was born and brought up in the Gorbals (SP) till she was 14 and left for london to go into service.

On the whole I found it quite moving, although Paxman pissed me off with his comment about his paternal great-great-grandfather from Suffolk "always having his hand out" for poor relief.
