The issues with deciding a new president are incredibly complex and incredibly simple at the same time. Hillery is way to phoney and she just isnt Qualified But she is well connected.

The rebublicans havent sorted themselves out yet either the biggest problem we face is so many influences are being effectively brought to bear on both sides that it dismays just about everyone.
The republicans that like Mc Cain cant stand Huckabee, the Hucabee suporters cant stand Romney, the ron paul supporters cant stand anyone the lack of unity in the country is our greatest weakness.
Reguardless of who gets elected it wont be as bad/good as everyone thinks it is going to be.

I think Powell is a head and shoulder above the quality of the candidates running now. For some reason he just won't run. He made that clear way back.

I was watching New York 1 (local TV) the other day and there was a call-in program during which a woman on the Upper West Side (traditionally liberal, full o' Dems) called in and starting blathering on inanely about Clinton and Obama. The number one gem in her ramblings was, "I'm going to vote for Hillary because, well, I know it might not be politically correct to say, but I just don't think this country is ready for a black president."
The interviewer replied, "But you think the country is ready for a female president?"
The caller had, of course, no real answer. But her statement is such unfathomable, self-justifying, cyclical bullshit: "We're not ready to stop being racist because we're not ready to stop being racist."

To be fair many blacks don't claim them either. I have a new niece that's half black and half white so I expect to see this thing up close as she grows up.
