I didn't think that much of Sihnoukville in Cambodia. I can't say I didn't like it at all, but it has a real vibe of tack and seedyness, plus the weather was hot, sticky and resolutely grey... there was barely any sun. Saw a fair few dodgy single older men, or in twos and threes too, who could well have been out there for the cheap weed and beer as far as I know, but the "sex with children is ILLEGAL" signs on the backs of the tourist brochures made me think otherwise.

It was also stuffed full of people from the Thai beaches, who didn't seem to have any desire to go anywhere else (fortunately) and stayed on the "beach". We only went to one beach there, before getting out, and it was quite o-k I guess, but nothing spectacular at all (although having seen 30km white sand beaches with like 10 people on them, maybe my standards were high!). There was dick-all culture either; we went up to the monasty on top of the hill via tuk-tuk, and that was pretty much it. The "old" town isn't great, as it's not old... it's quite grimey and it's like some of the rubbish-strewn areas of Phnom Penn but with none of the interesting bits.

I'd go back there (in season), so it's not like a terrible place, it just didn't appeal much to me (although some of the islands off the coast are meant to be nice!). Anchor beer is brewed near there though, and a 2-3 litre jug for $2 never gets old...

Also Egypt with its pushy locals:mad:
I warned some Italian guys from walking on the trade street in Sharm-El-Sheikh but they were curious enough to leave the hotel and walk. When returned they only could say it was disgusting and seemed like the hotel personnel and street pushers were of different nations

That's harsh. I like Dublin.

Certainly Cork is a much nicer, more friendly city.

Dublin is a fucking shithole, and I genuinely believe it is unfit to be capital of the republic.

It is also home to the worst people in the world - the Dublin 4 Upper Middle Classes.

For a relatively small place London does quite well to get up there with a whole continent (Africa) and the massive Siberia.

Pretty much on the money there, good for cheap food and beer and a nice beach and sea. Cheapish guest houses (though more expensive than Thailand). What more in life could you possible want????

Make sure you go there out of the rainy season, sun does come out I'm told. I was there in the rainy season and it did rain a lot.
