I like the second one. In fact can you make me a top too? :p:D The first one would give you a killer cleavage though.

It's quite a thin cotton - I haven't checked the drape

Is it hand washable (thinking of the glitter here)?

With the second one, how does the cross over/fastening work? Cos you might be able to lengthen that band to tie behind and that'd make it much easier to put on/take off at festivals.

Oh, I don't know. I bought it a couple of years ago and it's just been sat in my studio. I'll probably find it's full of moth holes.

I think it fastens with ties anyway

I like the second on a lot as well but I think spangles has got a point about the pattern. I think I'll definitly make myself one or two of that one but in a smaller print and less in-your-face colour.

normally the second one, but it won't look right with the pattern. so: the first.

do not opt for the last one - it will give you a huge monobosom.

edit - with some sort of camisole/vest under, obv.

Monobosom! Thank god for you.

I have no idea now :)

For easy access you mean?

I'd go for the 2nd one. Straight across tops look shit if your tits are above a 32AA

Mind you, first time I met trashy and spangles etc I was wearing a dress that went straight across - are you saying my tits looked shit??

:hmm: I've got a dress that goes straight across. I ain't DD, but pretty sure it doesn't look shit :(

I don't think straight across tops make boobs look wrong in any way, they just make them look bigger. So it depends on what look you're trying to create really.

Actually they're great for up to a B IMO, because they make you look like you actually have some breasts. :o

What I mean is, as AS points out, that they make your tits look bigger. Which I really don't want to do. And I find there is never enough fabric so my tits squeeze out of the top in an unattractive elderly wench way. I mean looks shit on me :D

I don't remember what you were wearing when I met you madz :o I do remember that you had to do your boot up with a paper clip and that the dress you changed into to go the Albert was lovely. I don't think that had a straight top did it?

Yeah, it was straight across and strapless - it was black and grey polka dot chiffon. I wore it with boots and leggings  and a little black cardi. How many Urban fashion rules did I manage to break in one night? :D I remember you all coo'd when you found out it was seven quid in New Look :D

if your boobs are wider than your ribcage, a top like that in a non stretch fabric gives them nowhere to go than be squashed backwards. A deep vee or wrap neckline allows your boobs to push the neckline apart. hence monoboob/non monoboob.

if the fabric is stretchy/ gathered, it won't make this person with boobs wider than her ribcage shapeless, but it will make anyone's boobs look bigger. which is not always a bad thing.

I am shit at this stuff sorry but I wouldn't go for 3 as I don't find straight across tops flattering on myself.
I love the long dress in section 2, want!

Ahhh, yeah, the two straight across, strapless dresses I have are gathered.

Aha! You see. I have a square neckline dress which is gathered and is velvet and that is quite flattering. And stretchy is okay. Straight across and cotton looks hideous on me.

And if you're a B cup, it kind of squishes them over the top giving you cleavage in a period drama way, which I hold still isn't necessarily a bad thing if you're a B cup. :) Hell, it's the only way I can have a cleavage without "assistance" or standing with my arms crossed! :D
