which supermarket has the best designed packaging for their value range?

I seriously doubt that they'd ever been near a fish tbh.

Every one had a different consistency, from runny to dry / flakey.

WTF was I thinking

Should have just gone veggie for a few years.

The Tesco value branding has to be the most depressing-looking one of the lot.

Sainsbury's is actually okay. ASDA's not bad either, probably a bit better.

But credit where it's due. Tesco Value branding has at least given peeps inspiration for some amusing spoofs...

Ah, this reminds me...

Tesco HSL - High Strength Lager. Damned if I can find a pciture, but it was value Special Brew...

I like the fact that the sainsburys ones say "still good in a bolagnaise or whatever"

strangely enough the gin and vodka doesn't have the byline of still gets you pissed

It's all about the little slogans they print on the side of Sainsburys basics products,

Basics Garlic Bread "Still takes your breath away"
Basics Weetabix "No added vitamins"
Basics Washing Powder "Cleans, nothing else"

we had great fun when i did nightshift at sainsburys spotting the funny ones

Yep I agree Tesco value looks absolutely crap.

The value chicken kievs look so bad it kinda puts me off the 99p price incentive and some of the meat looks as if it's meant for feeding to the dog.

I sometimes think that Tesco deliberately make it look horrible so that you would only consider a purchase if you REALLY! had to. There's probably some psychology going on there.

I always buy the bog rolls, beans and tinned tomatoes without thinking twice. Had the chicken breasts quite a few times but they ain't exactly cheap anway.

I have absolutely no quarms about buying value. People who are socially bothered about buying cheap things are just fucked up.

I read a huge article in some design magazine how the tesco value product packaging was designed.

:o

I've always liked Asda's Smart Price packaging. It was good when it had a little green fox logo and said 'TRY ME AND YOU'LL LOVE ME' on the packet.

Tesco Value vodka and gin always hits the spot, and at a touch over 7 quid is fine by me. The value caramel wafers are fucking luch as well, and the 'cheddar' is fine for cheese on toast.

I have no opinions on the aesthetics though.

The vodka isn't bad.

For a little bit more their basic own brand stuff is really good, I prefer it to Smirnoff and it's much better than Vladivar. It's almost as good as Absolut and quite drinkable neat.

It's vile on a scale beyond words.

However, for seven quid..........

Do you mean the value or the own brand?

I thought the own brand cheapo voddy was nice... oh well! I probably one shotted four fingers upon opening the bottle and made all opinions after that :)

I was thinking about value packaging the other day and I realised that they make it look so shit because then you really do have to make a choice to spend less money as everyone knows you're buying cheap stuff when it's going through the till. Which, let's face it, is where you get to make loads of dodgy judgements about the people in front of you who are already annoying you by taking ages with all their shopping and so you play that game where you guess their job and lifestyle.

Or is that just me?

yet another reason for using the self scan tills - apart from fucking them over by using vouchers you've not bought the products for.

Sainsburys look quite stylish & don't screem out "I'm a total loser with no money, friends and self respect" like Tesco value does. (that might just be me:o)

Lest we forget the smoker's friend

Actually the packaging has got more fancy since the last time I was in the US.
