Zaskar, that is so transparent. You've been told not to try and bring your problems other threads by the mods.

What? I have no idea what you are talking about, none at all......

hmm ice hockey, basketball, and baseball....if they find that edge of the seat they need help

also rugby tends to be full of elitest wankers

The little village where my parents lived in the Borders put out three teams every Saturday, there is no elitism about rugby up here.

Rugby, many supporters are middle class boys of the worst kind. Pissed up mysoginists who hunt in packs and appear to think a fight is fun and harassing women is sport.

This may be the case in England, it is certainly not the case in Scotland where rugby is very much a working class sport, as is golf.

Wrong! As has been shown on here many times.
Well, "claimed" rather than "shown".

Both codes are w/c games across huge swathes of the country
Well, not "huge swathes". Not negligible, but not "huge swathes" in my judgement.

I have to assume this is satire. In Scotland union is largely played in farming communities and by public schoolboys. (Look at where the game is played, for God's sake.)

I would have thought it undeniable that more people behave really, really unpleasantly at association football matches than at fixtures involving any other sport. That, of course, doesn't make the supporters in general "despicable or dislikable".

I would reckon there is absolutely no chance of a reasonable discussion occurring on this subject.

Now, back to Henry Blofeld and the cricket commentary....

In your careful judgement as ever, which we all appreciate on the rugby threads. Well, i do think that the area from lands End up to Gloucester, Wales and the east midlands and most of the north does actually count as "huge swathes". Where on earth does it leave?

I think where i said 'many' above, I should have said 'some' .

Fair enough, there are tossers everywhere. :D

I was pointing out that the social status of various sports varies greatly depending on area, my next door neighbour is a sparkie and a keen golfer, a member of one of the dozens of local clubs, I couldn't really see him at Sunningdale or Royal Berkshire though. :D

I did excel at some sports in my youth. Shot, discus and javelin. AFAIAA I'm still the holder of the RAMC record for shot and javelin.

The year I won all three at the Corps sports my boss wrote in my confidential report that I was not a ' team player ' . :D :D :D :D :D

Sorry Justin, you could not be more wrong. Don't confuse the urban game in Scotland with the rural. Walkerburn, where my parents lived, as far as I,m aware does not have a single public school almanus playing in any of the three teams. Walkerburn has a population of about 500. Galashiels fields eleven teams, Peebles about the same, most little villages at least two teams.

the yanks make the most twattish sportsfans, and their games are all crapp. baseball is rounders ffs; and american football is rugby for puffs who wear padding, in case they fall over and hurt themselves.

Football fans - by a long, long way.

Not the (seemingly) small minority who are genuine fans, supporting their team in a considerate manner. But the lagered up fuckwits who seem to use football as an excuse for violence, intimidation and collective hatred of everyone who doesn't subscribe to their neanderthal behaviour.

Allow me to corrrect that '(seemingly) small minority' to '(definitely) large majority' :D :p

My pet hate -- golf fans, and fans of Rugby Union (in the South East that is -- they're fine in Wales :) )

None too keen on tennis fans either, but I had to prioritise.

Golf & golf spectators...

Oh look at the little white ball fly through the air... Boring..

"I played eighteen holes, shot a birdie an eagle & a bogie.." WTF are you on about talk English..

and basketball is really netball another girly game :)

I can't stand bull fighting. Every time I turn the channel over (I live in Spain) some dude in a sparkly jacket is sticking sharp objects in a bull. It makes me sick. Spaniads are sick for enjoying this shit. Europe should ban it!

most people are cunts, most people like football therefore its football.

i would also say that football has some of the best supporters though its just that its so popular it attarcts everyone from every economic/polictical/social background you can think of. anda cross section of very braod personality traits many of which are despicable and dislikeable.

In that small, sparsely populated corner of south east Scotland known as the Borders you're correct. In the main population centres - ie the central belt, Aberdeen, Dundee etc - it is very much a public school game. At my comp on the west coast it was virtually unheard of.

How can there be a debate on this? Clearly football has the most despicable supporters by a country mile. What followers of any other sports travel the country and abroad with the sole intention of causing destruction and mayhem? Criticizing polo or rugby fans 'cos some of them went to private school? Inverse snobbery of the highest order.
