Which smart phone to go for?

Which smartphone?

If you get enough third party apps, that Touch HD handset would be an absolute dream to use. The screen and feature set is truly fantastic.

*starts "my WM phone is a piece of shit thread" countdown timer*

:D

I've had a WM6 device before. I loved it for 9 months then slowly started to hate it. It was slow, and the touch screen wasn't good enough.

Both of these issues have been fixed with a much faster processor and an incredible screen.

Also, the XDA developers come out with some really, really solid cooked roms so reliability issues are rapidly fixed.

Then of course next June I can just bump WM7 on which, one hopes, will be at least as good as the iPhone in terms of usability.

There are also rumours that WM6.5 will be released with the Zune software, which'd be nice.

*Please don't let me be seduced by that vast screen, good battery life, Tom-Tom, tons of apps and lack of iPhone power-freakery!

Apparently TomTom runs perfectly in portrait and landscape, full screen.

Are you getting one in to review? You should. It really does (seem, at this point) to be the first phone to have got past the virtual keyboard problems.

I need to unsubcribe from phone threads till my contract runs out I'm thinking. I'm starting to get gadget envy. That HTC HD does look nice.

I've just got a Nokia N78. First phone I've had with wifi. Only gripe with it, the battery cover doesn't feel the most secure. Seems the only significant difference between this and the N95 / 96 are the better cameras and increased storage on those models.

Media options are fine for my needs. Not worked out how to stream over home network via UPNP yet though.

e2a. Thinking about it. As there's no QWERTY, not what the OP wants at all.
